I absolutely love the drone shots at the olympics, they bring a great POV of lots of events. But they really need to filter out the hum of the drones from the broadcast audio

That article in particular focuses on filtering out tire wear particles AFTER they've entered the environment. Which is very much a band-aid, and it filters them AFTER we've breathed in the airborne particles.

We can stop them from ever being released by designing cities not for cars, but we […]

Where are good places to find refurb/open-box/used/etc. hard drives for a home NAS?

I am actually rather frustrated with the Boston area's snow response this year. Yes, it was a lot and we haven't seen this much in a while and yes it has been colder than usual, but it has been weeks and
- crosswalks are still blocked in
- Bike lanes are still blocked, and
- parking is still […]

It was shocking to see in Allston how the city just abandoned people who bike. I don't understand a city that invests in a green and burgeoning mode of transportation that people rely on year round but gives up

I would like an apology from @wutrain.bsky.social & Nick Gove and a pledge to do better

While all this was going on, people who rely on this bike lane year round were forced to be either in the traffic lane or on the sidewalk. Folks biking, riding scooters, skateboards, runners, someone on a skateboard: Boston is a multimodal city and we all deserve safety and to be protected from cars

Every bike lane cleared by a volunteer crew is an act of heroism and a policy failure.
You can see how massive this chunk of ice was that had to be chopped out and then removed!

Had the city just cleared the bike lane when the snow was still soft, none of this would be necessary

Comm Ave now has a bike lane again thanks to the effort of this volunteer crew!

This is just one street, and we don't have the plows that the city has. Let's get this done city-wide!

Are you annoyed by Boston's snow covered bike lanes?

It's now been well over a week since Boston's snowstorm, and yet most protected bike lanes are unusable because of the snow.

Help us shovel Commonwealth Ave's PBLs and show that this work is an urgent need!

I don't remember where this came from, but just found this in my photos and it's pretty clear why I saved it

Maybe the artist wants to update it for the GLX?

Are you sick of bike lanes that aren't clear of snow after 2 weeks in #boston? Join @bikeboston.bsky.social in clearing some out this Friday! Let's show the city that they are failing cyclists across the city and it is unacceptable

IF THE CITY WON'T, WE WILL! Help shovel Commonwealth Ave with the BCU
In the weeks following record snowfall in Boston, several protected bike lanes have remained entirely impassable despite 311 requests and direct notifications. When protected lanes are not cleared, people are forced into traffic or prevented from traveling safely at all. This creates immediate and avoidable safety risks, particularly on Commonwealth Ave, where students and residents from Allston, Brighton, and Brookline commute daily, making it one of the highest bike traffic corridors in the city. To reduce the risk of injury, BCU is organizing a small, time-limited effort to clear snow and ice from one priority corridor while continuing to press the City for consistent, systemic maintenance. This action is intended not a substitute for the City’s responsibility to maintain public infrastructure, but as a reminder to them that this is desperately needed. We are inviting partners who are able to: Volunteer time to help shovel and clear the lane, and/or Assist with documenting the conditions and the work (photos or short videos) We will provide clear guidance on safety, messaging, and coordination so the effort remains focused, disciplined, and aligned with shared values around public safety and accountability. We will be meeting at 3pm at Babcock and Commonwealth Ave and start moving eastward. We will conclude our shoveling at 7pm. We appreciate your continued partnership and shared commitment to safer, more reliable streets for everyone who bikes in Boston—year-round. In solidarity, Tiffany Cogell Boston Cyclists Union

Went to the Boston Pretti Memorial Ride today, and as I arrived I immediately was greeted by half a dozen friends (with more arriving closer to the start time). It was a real heart-warming feeling to have that community, and to see really good showing of the Boston cycling community.

Pet Peeve: Saying that sidewalks are the responsibility of the property owner and not the city ignores the fact that it's *the city* that is ultimately responsible for enforcement.

...and if that accountability system doesn't work, then its *the city* that then is in charge of creating new system.
