spending 3 weeks on the northeast corridor has really solidified for me how much of an outlier chicago is in the us. you’ve got this one row of high-density pre-car cities with high transit usage (for the us), one midwest city built like that 720mi away, and nothing else similar

The new @mta.maryland.gov Metro railcars will be in service tomorrow! It'll be leaving Owings Mills at 10am if you want to be one of the first to ride. The new cars have bigger windows, brighter lights, more space for wheelchairs, bike racks, & better seats!
They’re here! 🚆 Our new Metro Subway cars are officially in service. Be among the first to ride tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 9, from 10 AM–3 PM, starting at Owings Mills. Enjoy brighter lighting, larger windows, real-time digital signage, and more bike space. See you there!
