Well, this Satan in the Ashmolean is quite fit, though perhaps an acquired taste. Donated by Jeffrey Archer!

This is the only one I'm happy to share - you will of course recognise it! I have your Tubemapper book and get great enjoyment from trying to copy effects - makes me really look hard at scenes I've walked past for years when living in London. You'll like the extra reflection on glass table!

A surprising visitor to my bathroom (in Oxford UK). Anyone know what it is?

Not sure if it's just the heat that's making me crabby, or leg cramps, but I'm so fed up with Data Availability Statements that aren't worth the paper they are written on, e.g. my comment here: pubpeer.com/publications...

@stuartbuck.bsky.social on what I think we should term the Department of Ghastly Government Inefficiency and Excess.

Great lecture. And glad to see he’s willing to comment on role of Elon Musk

spent yesterday seeing research from the perspective of a participant. Discussed it with one of the people testing me, and we agreed it’s remarkable that thousands of people agree to be scanned for hours for no reward - rather like blood doning - restores faith in humanity @ukbiobank.bsky.social

i haven’t a clue about flower arranging, but sometimes the flowers just do something artistic of their own accord

Love this quote by Jacob Bronowski about the idealised view of the scholar. Then I think about Elon Musk, FRS

Well, re that tomato paper, now there's a notice re "concerns regarding the use of non-standard derivatives of established technical terms" - but still no recognition of the fact it's such arrant nonsense that integrity of reviewers and editor must come into question. www.mdpi.com/2305-6290/6/...

Nothing to see here. Just Elon Musk FRS retweeting an incendiary statement about @royalsociety.org's Foreign Member Anthony Fauci at the point when Trump removed Fauci's protection.
Need for preemptive pardon amplified when Musk previously tweeted "prosecute Fauci".

Where does @elsevierconnect.bsky.social get its information from?

In Jul 2023, @retractionwatch.com noted that Masoud Afrand stepped down as editor of Scientific Reports. retractionwatch.com/2023/07/19/j...
But, here he is: still listed as an editor on the journal website.
This amplifies concerns noted here: deevybee.blogspot.com/2024/10/an-o...
