Michael Mann posted an article. I disagreed with the framing. Very politely! Blocked. Honestly bizarre behavior.

Terrible on its own terms, and also poisoning the waters in congress for any kind of bipartisan deal on transmission/permitting issues.
SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

it's related I think to how liberal funders and institutions are allergic to spending on progressive media (eg how CAP shuttered ThinkProgress). rather than invest in that kind of long-term project the money vanishes into the election consultant maw

I'm curious what the wider carbon cycle science community thinks about this recent analysis: www.newscientist.com/article/2489...
Major carbon sink may have vanished for a second year in a row
Record heat in 2024 caused ecosystems on land to emit nearly as much carbon dioxide as they took out of the atmosphere

it's over. between this and federal permitting nonsense, idk how we can have a solar industry in america. I may have to go live in the woods.
BREAKING: A new anti-dumping/countervailing duty petition has been filed against #solar imports from India, Indonesia, and Laos.

This is almost certainty going to shut off supply from these 3 countries & it couldn't come at a worse time for the US solar market.

I'll explain why in this thread. /1

The importance of renewables growth is subordinate to total demand growth for power, as we monitor decarbonization. The 4.3% growth last year in total demand was far more determinative to 2024's decarb outcome than the growth of renewables. | per today's EI Stat Review release.
