I can get behind this. I support 6 felines and they eat and need housing and medical care. It isn't cheap.

You have to buy damn pet insurance now because veterinary care is getting up there with the human health care costs. People have to fundraise or re-home their pets because of vet bills. Food and toys and other pet stuff also costs money.

Jesus. Brilliant. My pets are easily $12,000 per year. If I, childless, have to pay for public education, I think a standard deduction for pets is reasonable. But the IRS doesn't make those decisions. Only Congress can impact taxation.

I actually agree with this. They are dependents and you should be able to claim them.

Considering I had to register my 17 pound dog, had a pet fee attached to my rent, was required show proof he was included in my renter's insurance, and kept up on his immunizations contingent upon lease renewal, just to have the building sell and get evicted anyway. Yes.
