Idk why I suddenly went into this probably silly analysis, I'm slightly sleep deprived and suddenly something sparked an idea when I watched the video.

Their relationship can only finally be realized, however, when the two are placed at eye level again. When they are equals. Not just in their positions of power in relation to the other, but in their feelings. They have been out of sync for nearly a decade, but no longer.

Yet even when they’re placed as adversaries—when Jayce is forced to kill Viktor in the commune, for example—I think it’s important that Jayce is still looking up at Viktor. Now that he knows the truth, Jayce gazes up at Viktor just as he did, many years ago, at the mage that saved him.

But this is almost a problem in and of itself. In this reverential perspective, Jayce idolizes Viktor and fails to see the very human machinations (pun intended) that are causing Viktor to withdraw. We see Viktor’s gaze shift, too, away from Jayce.

What I find fascinating is that in S2, we return to Jayce looking up at Viktor. Caused by the explosion and watching Viktor literally die, Jayce’s priorities shift, placing Viktor once more at the top. The only thing he cared about, and his single-minded goal. To save him.

The time skip further highlights this, with Viktor’s disease rapidly killing him, making his form wither. Jayce, thrown into the council, looks (literally) down at Viktor, and this is when they’re most at odds. They’re no longer in the same wavelength, and grow more apart.

Jayce sees Viktor as his perfect savior.

When they discover Hextech, they are seemingly equals. Partners. But the distance between them here is still almost of cosmic proportions. They are partners, but already Hextech has gotten (literally) in between them.

🥲 I actually had to pause it because I had a near anxiety attack (through no fault of the movie) and it was too heavy a topic to keep watching after that. Planning on finishing the second half today!

The acting is amazing but def heartbreaking
