Times like these I think about Xie Lian a lot. He is a character that taught me deeply about the importance of pushing forward, and staying as true to yourself as you can, even when the horrors attempt to destroy your spirit. He was beautiful far beyond his physicality, and that's comforting to me.

I say this as someone who has "suffered" from depression since I was a preteen. Even in the midst of looking to die, I've managed to find slivers of hope, enough to keep going towards another day. It's harder when globally the world is in shambles, but even those ravaged by war live on as they can.

I was feeling despondent yesterday (and for much of the week), but today I feel somewhat renewed. Sometimes all we need is rest—physical and mental—to reset our perspective. I don't think hopelessness becomes me, despite being prone to periods of it. Each time, I brush myself off and keep going.

Man, I slept like a baby. Even though I woke up just before 5, I felt so well rested. Turns out doing some light reading, driving tea, and meditating, before bed CAN make a difference.

yeah it feels like a lot of this situation we're in is because people keep saying "this is inevitable" as some sort of excuse for not doing anything about it which is so frustrating :( I've been focusing a lot of my energy at work on developing ethical guidelines because I know ppl are gonna use it.
