Was he *always*? I remember reading his columns at Bloomberg which were impressively accessible discussions of open questions in economics. And then it was like this other guy emerged on Twitter. My memory might be faulty, but were there also signs then?

Sincere question: in terms of explaining “why are people mad about the economy when it’s doing well by conventional measures?” is there a better explanation on hand that isn’t “people are just more entitled today than they were in the past”?

Well if you don’t know the context maybe it’s benign. Perhaps it was meant in response to a picture of 18th century Thanksgiving decorations and is missing a comma e.g. “Hang them, George Washington would”

I know this isn’t the point of the story, but it’s not Halloween yet! This is a person who thought “yay it’s October twenty-somethingeth I get to put on my Gestapo uniform!”

But the world is already so complicated and I liked thinking that knowing the phrase “guns, germs, and steel” explained most of human history!

At some level, Alito and Thomas know that there won’t be money for expensive fishing trips and luxurious international travel if they let Trump destroy the global economy

Dems should move right on most issues (repeating on BlueSky to give the haters what they want) but there’s a clear exception.

I know it’s not the first thing people might associate with it, but we should just get “the youths” to watch The Sopranos, which makes this argument so effectively IMHO

There are 3parts of the message with the “They/Them” ad: 1) “Harris wants to spend taxpayer $ on other ppl and doesn’t care about you” 2) “The spending benefits lawbreakers when the economy is bad for everyone 3) “Harris supports LGBTQ+ rights”. Hard to disentangle effect of 1 & 2 from impact of 3

Same thoughts / feelings here. February and March were revised down 58k, which could be consistent with the “it’s Biden’s economy!” crap, but I’d wager these idiots aren’t capable of getting something by all of the people who are paid real money to autopsy these releases the second they’re available

Well it’s also if you throw everyone in prison it can “solve” a crime problem. The per capita incarceration rate in El Salvador is mind-boggling

Because I respect you and think you're a smart person people should listen to, I feel compelled to say to anyone else reading you actually still need to pay your taxes if you haven't / don't do something you might regret later www.wsj.com/personal-fin...
Why Cutting Corners on Your Taxes This Year Is a Bad Idea
Yes, the IRS is shrinking. But it is far from toothless—and the cost of getting caught has gotten higher.
