Mostly, I was trying to show them how to open up the pleats of their own stories and essays to create novels and memoirs--if they ever want to.

We discussed a lot of what ifs. What if Bill bringing Sarah home wasn't the end, but rather the inciting incident? What if we got Sarah's point of view? What if Bill confronted Ned now that he realizes N is his father? What if Sarah tried to get her baby back? These would create a different book!
