Lake Valley was the site of one of the most profitable silver mines in the country...the Bridal Chamber mine. The silver deposits were so pure that it would melt if you lit a flame in the mine.

This petroglyph outside of Hillsboro NM has intrigued me since we found it a few years ago. A footprint with a circuitous trail around it, maybe? The dots could be what? Water holes? Maybe mortars? What do you think? #archeology #explore #hike

A friend owns a historic mine in a remote corner of the Black Range in New Mexico; I stumbled upon some historic 1880's photos of the mine, including the delivery of a boiler, with a group of miners, cavalry, and Apache scouts in the pic. I had to go look for the boiler. Found it still there!
