Finding out about grayboxing as a means of prototyping 3d games has been a revelation. I was previously worried about getting into 3d because it seemed so daunting, but using very simple shapes to just get the idea across is a very nice first step. #gamedev #godot

Been hard at working learning more of #godotengine and I'm really happy with where I am right now. I am able to randomize a deck, draw from it, and have it persist through game closing. I'll be working on some simple health bars and other combat mechanics next. #gamedev

I finally got card hovering to work properly. This was quite a journey to get done right, and I'm really glad I learned from a bunch of mistakes with it. It's amazing what little bits of help you can find tucked away in Reddit comments and forum posts. #godot #godotengine #gamedev

New pet peeve unlocked: "did you know" recipe videos. "Did you know that if you combine ingredients in a particular way and heat them through a particular method, you will have made food?"

The first builds I had of the Collector's Cage deck had Cavalry. Hoof likely a little better in that spot.
Who's tryna 8-hoof it in Standard?

Giving myself a break from #Godot programming to learn a little bit about video game art. Here are some of my first forays into tilesets! I used #aseprite to make them, and I'm really happy with how cohesive they ended up and how easily it came together. ☺️ #gamedev #indiedev

Turns out, if you're building a UI, you should probably be using Control/UI nodes instead of 2D nodes. Who knew! #godot #gamedev

I have #MTG coverage of Portland on one screen and the Firaxis #CivVII on another, and cooked some lunch. This is the life.

I cleaned my shower today and now have really bad brain fog from the chlorine fumes.

Well, here's my "finished" Pong project in #Godot! I know there are definitely some improvements I could make and features to implement, but just having the game loop done has me really excited because this is the first small #gamedev project I've worked on that I've actually mostly finished.

Bleh one thing that can't be understated about the healing process is all of the emotional scabs and scars that have to be reopened in order for you to properly treat them. It'll be worth it in the end but some days it's tough. #mentalhealth #adhd

Small thing that I love about #Godot that I just learned: If you're working on a 2D game, you can just turn off 3D features. That's really nice for reducing noise in the UI.

I'm pretty often envious of people who are able to pick something they want to do and then focus on honing their craft. I can usually pick things up pretty quickly, but I almost always lose interest once the novelty wears off. It's a skill that I am working very hard to cultivate. #adhd

Both of the local #RCQ s were cancelled today. We got a lot more snow than the forecasts thought and the roads are bad again. #mtg #mtgstandard

Back in 2016, a coworker of mine was going to school for programming, so I decided I'd give it a shot. I learned Python on Codecademy and I was immediately good at it and was enjoying myself. I went back to college the next year and graduated in 2020.

I finally permanently deleted my Facebook and Instagram accounts. It's been a long time coming and basically the only reason I kept it for so long was my friend groups using Messenger. We've moved everything to Discord and haven't skipped a beat. I definitely still have some phone muscle memory. 😅

I eagerly await this release as I feel like this studio has some really good sensibilities when it comes to process. I've learned a lot listening to the podcast and even started using Unreal Engine for my own gamedev journey in part because of it.
Why do I feel like our new studio can make something as titanic as an MMO faster than the big boys can make? The three things that take the longest on big games are in my experience: making a new engine, making a shit load of content, and stabilizing the design. 1/
