Beautiful image. Ireland doesn't often look like that in early April.
Blue sky over #UnitedKingdom!
The spring almost cloudfree #Copernicus #Sentinel3 images collected on April 2nd shows green field and awesome shades of Ocean colours surrounding the islands.

I think this is one of my favourite colourful climate chart type things, because it depicts two things at once:

- Things are going to get worse, no matter what

- The degree to which they get worse depends on decisions made today

Crazy high temperatures; as I understand it, we know why it's happening (climate change), but we don't fully understand why it's happening so fast. Scary times!
The Global Climate Highlights 2024 report is now online.

Delve in the analysis and access all the charts, information, and data on temperature, sea ice, precipitation, and greenhouse gas concentrations. Explore the data that defined 2024: https://bit.ly/40kQpcz

A reminder that Los Angeles had its hottest summer in history last year. Southern California has received just 2% of "normal" rainfall during the current "rainy" season.

These fires are a direct result of a warming & drying atmosphere caused by burning fossil fuels.

We are in a climate emergency.

Increased Renewables + Increased Grid Interconnectivity = more than four
Interconnectors are our friends!

At least #CrossBorderEnergy is expanding but it should focus on electricity infrastructure, not fossil fuel infrastructure.
They've done it! Germany says there is "a need for increased EU funding for cross-border [energy] infrastructure projects, which should be resolved as part of the MFF negotiations." #TTE

€50 billion CEF Energy, here we come!

This is so spot on. As a climate scientist and public intellectual, I see or experience these often

Promising. Seems that getting a large amount of solar is the easiest/cheapest way to increase renewable energy fast.
It is expected that Ireland will generate more electricity from utility-scale solar PV than from coal this year 🌞

And PV installations are growing so quickly (from such a low base) that similar solar power was generated in October this year than June 2023.

SEAI's "Energy in Ireland" is out today.
