It's the turning point of the Ring, isn't it, when the power of love begins to stand a chance against the love of power.

Ah, yes.

And it's tragic that so many of my musical colleagues are still assisting him. No respect for them, however well they write.

It took some people, ahem, a lot of time. Just upbraided @hammersmithandy.bsky.social for giving Xitter and Facebook as his main co-ordinates (he doesn't respond or do anything on here). Pleading with press offices of organisations like the Royal Opera has had no effect.

The headline is enough. Please don't click on The Times.

I must get that. I was invited by a political friend to a meeting in the basement of the then Theatre Museum which featured a film about the apartment bombing (by a Russian who's now turned over to the Putler side). Litvinenko was there, and I think ?Dudaev?, and Vanessa Redgrave was compelling.

Unfortunately he has held on and murdered people since 2001.

Putler provoked the second war with Chechnya by having the FSB bomb a Moscow apartment block and blame those from the Caucasus.
November 28, 2025 at 10:36 AM
Umm...no. I'm afraid the protracted fightback is the only way.
November 28, 2025 at 10:35 AM
He gets it. He's just in Putler's hands. The biggest treason on the planet.

Are we surprised? The rejection was a foregone conclusion. Media wasted our time discussing the 'peace deal'.

As for the odious Tice and Oakeshott in Dubai - wish they'd stay there and be banned from comment on the country they deserted.

Moving to Ireland in a year. It could go wrong again, but it's enjoying a good phase at the moment. Already spending half my time there with partner who was driven out workwise by Brexit (a rare benefit!), and feel more free. Little hope for Little England other than @zackpolanski.bsky.social.

You mean Act III?
November 28, 2025 at 9:32 AM
Press departments of the likes of the Royal Opera respond to my plea by saying 'we'll look in to that', but nothing happens.
November 28, 2025 at 9:31 AM
Filmed, not filled.
November 27, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Yes.

The Kupfer team were just as dedicated. No other filled Rings come close to those two. Anne Evans and John Tomlinson have several times told my Zoom opera students that the Bayreuth experience was the greatest of their professional lives.

Bluesky doesn't get encouragement from those who could help it.

Oh yes, that final scene is as moving as any. And Gwyneth's 'Der diese Liebe' is luminous.

Glad Tamara Wilson has finally gone for it. When she last came to talk to my students, she said 'in 10 years' time'. Must check how long ago that was. De Barbeyrac was perfect in London.
