SENTIMENTAL VALUE is Exhibit A for saying Renate Reinsve is canon-worthy, Stellan Skardsgard locking down éminence grise GOAT status, Elle Fanning being one of the best listeners on screen today and Joachim Trier summer lasting into the autumn months 📽️

Why 'Sentimental Value' Is One of the Best Movies of the Year
'The Worst Person in the World' director, Joachim Trier, returns with a drama that blurs the lines between art, life, and family. It's phenomenal.

There's a 50/50 chance you will love or hate DIE, MY LOVE. What Jennifer Lawrence is doing in the movie, however, is kinda awe-inspiring. This isn't performative punk-AF style bad behavior. This is a 100% free performance.

Jennifer Lawrence Is Completely Unhinged in 'Die, My Love'
The actor goes for broke in this story of a new mother losing her grip — and gives what may be the most unique, untethered performance of her career.

Went into STILLER & MEARA: NOTHING IS LOST expecting Ben Stiller to reminisce about his parents-slash-world-class comedy duo Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. Got something far more complicated, self-implicating, honest and dare I say healing than expected.

After Russ Vought experienced the chaotic failures of Trump’s 1st term, he made it his mission to ensure that a second Trump term would not “lose a moment of time having fights in the Oval Office about whether something is legal or doable or moral.”

Was lucky enough to geek out with Rebecca Miller, director of the definitive profile MR. SCORSESE, about all things Marty-related. Docuseries now streaming on Apple TV. It's five hours long and my only complaint is that it is not 10 hours long.

Jafar Panahi's IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT is a nail-biting thriller, an elliptical road movie, a dessert topping, a floor wax, and a backstage farce revolving around a killing instead a play. It's also one of the most deceptively profound movies of 2025.

Print the legend
You have probably heard this story from me, but a tale went around that one guy I knew was so creeped out by watching THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT at his house in the woods that he put towels over all the windows and watched A BUG’S LIFE twice in a row. Probably apocryphal, but I don’t care.

I can't recommend ORWELL: 2+2=5 enough — a perfect use of a 20th century figure as a lens to examine 21st century authoritarianism, a great example of how to use mural-like filmmaking as a weapon, another reason why Raoul Peck is an invaluable documentarian. 📽️
