I *am* a struggling independent author. If you buy from Amazon, 100% of the non-author portion of the price goes to Amazon. If you buy the same book elsewhere, less (not nothing!) may go to the author, but the non-author portion goes to smaller, perhaps even local, booksellers and distributors.

On the contrary, I'd argue that buying anything from Amazon is "shopping big" no matter what you're buying. Especially this weekend. #WeAintBuyingIt
