I have invariably found that cheap/budget glasses are only appropriate for people with mild impairment. If you're extremely short-sighted (like I am) then paying less means worse eyesight.

Why do my glasses cost so much? Because I am *very* short-sighted (-10.25), and I need expensive lightweight materials. The budget alternatives don't correct my vision well enough, and are too heavy to wear.
(I shouldn't need to explain why a wildlife photographer needs the best vision possible)
