I've heard that locals didn't take the warnings seriously. That not nearly enough went to designated shelters. Two smallish villages were directly in the eyewall path where it made landfall. Very sad thing to happen to such a nice place & ppl.

Nice loop! It's easier to see the island. That's a very rural, mountainous area the eye is going through. Rain amounts causing problems, probably.

Thanks for this link, Ed! I heard there are 25000 tourists staying in resorts around Mo Bay right now. They couldn't get out. Many of those resorts are at sea level!

Trump & Musk could have gone after military spending first, but really, what they focused on was gov spending, which was popular. Imo, science is not the same thing as gov/monopoly sponsored research.
