Helped out a friend this weekend who was running a 200 mile(!) trail race. Ran 18 miles with her overnight and into the morning after a snowstorm came through.
What an amazing event to be a small part of. The grit and determination of all the runners was so inspiring

What a great close to @leaddev.com. Met up with a few new friends at a happy hour.

I learned so much and can’t wait to come back again

Finished up Wheel of Time season 3. wtf. How do they cancel it after that?

I have questions that need answers. Moiraine, Rand, Nynaeve, Egwene, Lanfear? What happens?

Welp, here we go

Fun LLM use case. Describing hallucinations seen after staying up all night during my 100 mile run

ChatGPT made this image which is darn close to what my brain was telling me

In reality, sunlight was hitting the char on a burned tree and reflecting iridescent light

If you haven’t run 100 miles without training for it, have you even lived? jk

Spent the weekend running the Mogollon Monster 100 in Arizona. It was beautiful and challenging. I was way undertrained and suffered. I also finished it.

Go out and do hard things

A coworker brought a case of Dragons Milk Origin back from Michigan. Wasn’t going to buy one, but an after-work tasting changed that

It’s a version where they take out parts of the story to make it shorter. The version I read took out maybe 100 pages. Still a long book, but one where you want more at the end.
If it is abridged, it usually says it on the title and publisher page

Spent the weekend at the Kettle 100. Paced a friend from 63 to 71, unsuccessfully tried to convince him to not quit. Saw the 16 year course record fall. Watched a few other friends finish. What a time.

12 weeks until my own 100 mile run ⏰

3 different ways
1. Ask it to generate some UI component. It does the boilerplate, I tweak it manually
2. Tedious functions where it can write correct code based on name and parameters. Only time I use autocomplete
3. Asking architectural questions. I use this often. Image has a recent example

Doing a book club at work. Barely scratched the surface and feeling I should have read this years ago

10 years ago today I ran my first ultramarathon, Ice Age 50 mile in Wisconsin. Tomorrow I will be going for my 9th finish there.

In the picture I’m saying I would never do that again. I have to learn to make better life choices

Oh. They've encased him in Carbonite. He should be quite well protected

Wilderness Trail cask strength wheated. I’m really starting to enjoy cask strength bourbon. The flavor can’t be beat and perfect for sipping.

Someone at my company secured a couple of barrels and I got in on it. Cheers 🥃

What else should I print?

Climbed up to the top of Pass Mountain to get a rare glimpse of a cloudy morning sky in Arizona

I’ve been here many times, but the clouds make it unlike any other

Every year since 2017 I have run a 100 mile race. It has taken me to a lot of different places, both literally and figuratively. This year I’ll be heading to northern Arizona in September to do it again at the Mogollon Monster 100. Can’t wait.

You know that feeling when you learn something you probably should have know for years

So fetch() in JavaScript allows you to override the cache control from a server response. I needed to do this yesterday and now I know

Learning from my recent Claude chats ✨

My habit:
- Typing out my problem
- Using as much detail as I can
- Include examples
- Ask for a solution meeting criteria

How it ended:
- I should have solved problems like this before
- This is so fast ⚡
- Claude is my rubber duck 🦆

Checking out TemplUI (previously Goilerplate) this morning. Build a site with Go, Templ, AlpineJs, and Tailwind. Looks real nice. I don’t think he’s on bsky, but here is credit to the author
