Time change has plunged my morning commute back into darkness. Was tough to get moving today, but the weather was perfect for biking.

Get in there and comment folks, speak up for the people these bigots are targeting.
RIGHT NOW, until March 17th, you can write a comment on the proposed law that would ban trans people from updating their passports at the link below.

My comments in screenshot.

Thanks to @pavlovforgoths.com for the awareness.

Dramatic skies this morning, hard to dress for a day with a 30 degree temperature swing but I’m looking forward to riding home in short sleeves.

Preparation for the walnut st pedestrian bridge renovation is in full swing. Trying to get in as many crossings as possible before it is shut for 18 months.

Lots of rain this week, river is way high. Definitely a careful ride in over the ridge with these wet conditions.

One of the things keeping me from unhelpful nihilistic despondency is seeing the sun rise on my way in to work each day. It’s a small thing but cold air in my lungs and sun on my face as I pedal across the pedestrian bridge brings a smile and some calm.

Calm river this morning made for a fun reflection of the market street bridge.

Right on time for the sunrise today!

Today went from 20 to nearly 60 (f) so a somewhat late commute in was warmish with remnants of the freeze.

A few snow days later another happy bike into work day.

First bike to work of the new year today and it was a windy cold one! My layers were enough though and the views were great

Borrowed the ad from ChattBikeParty’s original post on instagram (don’t think they are over here yet), but if you like bikes and are in #chattanooga this weekend you should come through.

Bluesky is winning because both twitter and threads have gone out of their way to make their platforms inhospitable to reputable journalists and news. @kattenbarge.bsky.social reports:

Journalists flock to Bluesky as X becomes increasingly 'toxic'
Journalists are finding more readers and less hate on Bluesky than on the platform they used to know as Twitter.

Got in a sunset bike along the riverwalk, weather was gorgeous (cue slight existential dread at it being shorts weather in mid November)

I’m going to be tossing this article at everyone in #chattanooga city government I meet.
“Every $1,300 New York invested in building bike-lanes in 2015 provided benefits equivalent to 1 additional year of life at full health over the lifetime of all city residents, according to a new economic assessment.”

Bike-lanes are a sound public health investment.
