Lead UX Designer, Author of various "... for Dummies" books, globetrotting professor, started as a newspaper reporter back when that was still a thing. Still cantankerous, mostly funny.
5. Defense - and this is where it gets REALLY scary. Because Hypervisors are right there in the midst of comms, navigation and threat detection

Steer the carrier group into the reef. Black out comms. Volley in drone swarms.

4. Smart home/IoT - yeah, your Ring doorbell camera. Or your smart TV.

Or your web-enabled thermostat. What could go wrong?

3. Medical devices - like that favorite of hack techno-thriller movies, turning off some dude's pacemaker via the internet. Or maybe an entire ICU wing's ventilators. Or an entire hospital's electricity.

2. Industrial robots - think of the safety controllers installed all over an oil refinery. Do they react when a section starts overheating? Or do they just keep saying "Everything Is Awesome" and let things go boom?

"Why should I care?"

Here's where hypervisors are used:
1. Cars - all those updates to self-driving mode, or your entertainment system, GPS, airbags, or hell, opening the doors and starting the engine? Yeah. Hypervisors.

"What's a hypervisor?" you ask?

Answer: it's a way to have a whole bunch of computers in a network all controlled from one server, so if you want to update software or lock down an employee sending dick pics, you can do so very quickly

What is a Hypervisor?

All the trappings of power, with none of the actual hard work of having to govern

Just a spoiled little brat who wants shiny things and doesn’t wanna buckle down and Do Hard Stuff

We saw the prototype of the Nero Doctrine with Twitter. The goal wasn't to make it profitable or "free." The goal was to break the one place where news broke faster than the state could spin it.

They bought the town square not to speak in it, but to burn it down so we’d have nowhere else to gather.
