The template and filters for the old Sigma lens were the wrong size for the rear mount filter holder on the Nikon lens, so I made new ones. I mostly shoot B&W film and use filters with ultrawides a lot.

My old Sigma 14mm lens has become hazy (or something), so I decided to get a Nikon 14mm f2.8 (much better, although also bigger) from KEH. Ordered it yesterday and got it today. Scared the crap outa me when I mounted it on the D850, looked through the viewfinder, and saw this thing coming at me.

Since my old SB-80DX is not the best flash for my new D850, I decided to order an SB-600 graded at EX+ from KEH. It came in immaculate condition and works great.

But, now my old Sigma 14mm lens has haze and I noticed KEH has a nice Nikon 14mm in EX+ condition... The temptation never ends...

I've been experimenting with my first serious digital camera. For someone like me, with few artistic skills, who is interested more in the craft, digital is a completely different universe. I doubt it will ever supplant my interest in analog, but I can see how someone can be seduced by HDR...

Noticed an abandoned gas station outside Arab, AL during a road trip and went back later to snap a few. Not as picturesque as I hoped, but I shot a roll of HP5+ with the Hy6 (50mm lens), developed in Rodinal 1:50, and printed on Ilford Cooltone RC. Scans are from the prints.

I have a couple pics of payphones from my trip to Toronto in 2013. Not in the subway though. In fact, I couldn't tell you where I took this one, but I like the artwork surrounding it. Payphones would be a great topic for a coffee table book. They are fading into history.

Some pics showing the 2007 setup for the fork and ball picture. I think I used a Nikon F100 and an old 35mm f2.8 Nikkor converted non-AI lens. The background light is a 4 foot fluorescent and I probably just used the modeling lights from the studio flash units. Base was black Formica grid pattern.

This is much more clever than anything I could have conjured up, but kitchen utensils can be fun when the mood strikes you...

Dropped my Nikon F6 on the floor. Strap came loose. Camera seems okay, but the lens has a new look. The zoom ring is obviously knocked loose, but I don't see any other damage. Glass looks good, no cracks or breakage in the exterior. Focus and aperture work and I can hear the VR go on and off.

Shooting some self portraits. Gave up on film after 4 rolls and tried a point-n-shoot using the modeling lights. Finally decided to shoot one more roll of film, but this time using some old Fuji FP-100C film (exp 2016) to check the ratios, catchlights, shadows, etc. See it on top of the Shen Hao?

Drove my Miata 98 miles since I last changed oil in November 2022. I ordered a new filter from @Walmart and was surprised to see that they sent me some cheap filter packed in a Mobil 1 box, so I had to go get another one (from a nearby Walmart, no less).

I'm reading the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and I'm at the part about Claus von Stauffenberg's attempt to assassinate Hitler, so I added Valkyrie to my movie list so I can watch it again and irritate the hell out of my family by pointing out all the historical inaccuracies.

Just got one of those PX13 battery adapters on Amazon for my favorite small light meter. Bottom line: Works like the Wein 625, but uses cheaper, longer lasting 386 batteries. OTOH, my Mirco-Leader meter was only off by less than half a stop when using 1.55V silver oxide batteries w/o the adapter.

Just came across these pics from an older batch of DD-X I received in 2013 that I used in 2021 after 8.5 years to develop a roll of HP5+. DD-X and HC are really amazing in terms of shelf life. Kodak's TMax and HC-110 were similar until the "Improved Formula" came along.

A few pics of my darkroom taken with the new (to me) 501CM. 40mm lens, TMX, Ilfosol 3 @ 1:14 (1st time I've used this developer). Had some issues with bubbles, but a little more aggressive tapping of the tank eliminated them. Scans are of Cooltone RC Pearl prints (8" x 8" image area).

I shot this woman in 2001 and I still love the expression she gave me for this shot. She's been deaf since birth and I don't know ASL, so communications was complicated. We have pages and pages of written discussion. Afterwards we all went to dinner, making more pages of conversation. Great model.

Finally got a Hasselblad a few weeks ago and printed a few pictures from a short walk around downtown. All of these were taken with the 40mm CF which is clearly going to be my favorite lens. Body is a 501CM. Bought everything from KEH and was quite pleased with what they sent me.
