From the same neck of Hackney's political woods, a variation on the same theme. This is a poster which local shopkeepers are obligingly displaying. Of interest is that "initial sponsors" list doesn't include the Greens. #london

Took this (rather hurried) pic on my West End outing last Sunday. Presumably, if Reform won control of Westminster City Council (which it won't) they would have such "woke", un-British dual language signage purged from London's Chinatown immediately. #london

Much as I value the FT and don't want to be one of those punctuation obsessives, I wish it (and others) would desist from turning the Chancellor into a plural possessive. She is one individual, so it should be Reeves's gambit, not Reeves' gambit. I mean, no wonder the country's going to the dogs...

This leaflet came through my east #London letterbox the other day. First impression: blimey, *another* one from the Greens. But it's not. It's the Hackney far Left trying to turn May's borough elections into a referendum on the Labour gov's approach to Gaza (note Stop The War Coalition logo).

Why does the Conservative Party tolerate the membership of Susan Hall? Why, in particular, do Conservatives in #London?

Just back from a wander round my bit of #hackney, including Chatsworth Road Market. "Nige" would have hated it. #london #truelondon #stopfarage

Things I'm remembering today: 1, Hitler was, among other things, an authoritarian nationalist who claimed he would "save" Germany; 2, WW2 Britain fought for freedom and against fascism; 3, We must never surrender to the Far(age) Right. #RemembranceDay

What kind of "movement" would that be, so-called Tommy? The bowel variety?

Went to less the Oxford Street Christmas lights come on last night. Didn't spot Nigel Farage.

In further London Eye grandparental visit news, I can report that, for the first time, I noticed that you can see both St Paul's and what was originally called the Post Office Tower rather well from up there (as well as Mr Piano's brightly-coloured St Giles Circus) 🧵

When a grandchild reaches the age of 6, it is essential that they are taken for a ride on the London Eye followed by a visit to the London Aquarium. #london #truelondon

Was very pleased to chair a London Society event at New London Architecture's Guildhall HQ yesterday. The theme was the role #housing might play in the future of the Square Mile and City of London Corporation. Full report coming for OnLondon soon. Pic by @leannetritton.bsky.social #london

It's worth reflecting that the very mechanism of extracting significant amounts of London's affordable housing through negotiations with private developers causes difficulties for both. Here's top housing journalist Peter Bill's case study. #london #housing

Enjoyed some very London moments at newly-opened Seven Sisters Market on Sunday. I was there at the same time as loads of NFL fans were heading for the Spurs ground (to watch something they call football but, of course, isn't). A few dropped in for coffee en route. #london #truelondon

Spent a bit of time yesterday catching up on Susan's Enthusiasms. Hall remains a good example of the degeneration of the Conservatives. #london

I crossed Tower Bridge on my #London travels early today (before going to Diwali on the Square). I could not have timed it better.
