The beam following you into the air gets in the way of it doing its role of controlling space on the ground reliably while also lowering the value of AAs in general. You need to unlock Slot 3 for AAs but due to how combo extension works, that means you are just freeing up the beam slot instead lol

We used Anti-Air Assists to control airbone space tho. Generally, you don't want to overload functionality in one kind of assist or want it to do too many things since it kind of dumbs down team comp.

Like, Strider-Y does everything but it's not used for everyone because not all chars can OTG.

Twas a typo~

Guard Cancel > Star Lord fire shot > Assist Takeover into pressure do be saucy and very unique to this game but this is stuff that needs a real training mode to lab.

Don't think it works because Iron Man/Doom, and to a lesser extent Star Lord because he is amazing to play on point, Slot 2 was legit every single comp I played with or against.

They also probably realized the way Tokon's team comp is structured means they indirectly made the beam assist even more valuable because you don't really need to play your slot 2 if you don't want to so this is a shitty attempt to keep them somewhat in check.

Them spawning where you call them is just a really shitty targeted nerf towards beam assists because the actual lariat extensions still work grounded just fine.

They know beam assists ruled UMVC3 and DBFZ but like, the beam assist rules the game because space control rules fighting games lol

-don't get why the system is as restrictive as this. I understand that they want the point to set up for the lariat assist for active tag to keep the game going but right now it feels like this is the only real play in the game.

The character kits and the neutral itself are great, Star Lord feels like a hybrid of Dante and Cable with a dash of Bardock and Trunks, but the outcome of the neutral and the on-block pressure are incredibly boring and homogenized.

They already gave everyone insanely strong guard cancels so I-

Every single assist call on hit and blockstun is always a lariat assist and the assists spawn where you called them rather than the ground.

It makes the team order and assist unlock system feel pointless since you only really unlock neutral functions and your combo/pressure doesn't change.

Then iunno, maybe they threw it in as a bonus for people who like challenge runs or to smooth out the early game on higher difficulties.

Idk how the Blades upgrade on 3 but in 2 it was legit +50% per level so the difficulty was very lopsided.

It's likely an oversight.

Player damage in GoW2 VH is set to 75% of Normal iirc as a global change... yet somehow Grab juiced up, likely because of enemy damage also gets buffed like crazy.

They probably never caught it because most grabs just kill and these games are built around Normal mode.

It's 6-9 minutes but the TTK on mobs is deceptive because of the tag system. Spider-Man can jab jab, side swap sweep, into swap back web grab uppercut uppercut into tag to kill even high health mobs really fast for example.

It's gonna take a bit to clean up strats to see what the time really is.
