Home Office Ministers state publicly, on the record, that they are deliberately making life worse for older people and people with disabilities who depend on care services, but it's worth it because it reduces net migration.
The Home Office also recognise that this may have an impact on user of care services who are likely to be older people and those with disabilities. The Home Office believes that despite these points the changes are justified for a number of policy reasons including reducing net migration and ending reliance on overseas recruitment.

This one's for Dr. @kkdumez.bsky.social. I'm in Montana, and this afternoon I pulled up behind this truck and my jaw actually dropped. If you haven't read her book with both of these personages on the two bumper stickers in the title, you must! (The blurred vehicle tag is not Montana.)
This is the back side of a pickup truck at a stoplight In Bozeman, Montana. The interest for me is in the bumper stickers on either side of the license tag, the latter of which of course I have blurred out. On the left side from my POV in my vehicle there is a bumper sticker that reads Jesus Christ, King of Kings, Lord of Lords. On the right side of the license tag is a bumper sticker that has the face of the late actor, John Wayne, and which reads Make America John Wayne Again. What makes this ironic is that the title of @kkdumez.bsky.social's recent book which is a cultural critique of the American evangelical Christian Church's decades long descent into a sort of faux patriarchy that rebrands Jesus of Nazareth as a dude who would drive monster trucks and hang out with the Bros in the locker room telling rude jokes is titled 'Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation'. It's very much worth your time both if you are in a Christian tradition and perhaps, especially if you're not and are baffled by the rise of a strange sort of Christianity that has become dominant in one of the major American political parties.

The Trump administration's foreign policy strategy attacks allies including the UK & has been enthusiastically greeted by the Kremlin. Last month, the USA announced a 'peace deal' the Kremlin had written.

And in the UK, the media is full of people still wibbling about 'Trump Derangement Syndrome'.
