Spiratulized - Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating into space.

Classic and unique late 90s album Deserves to be remembered more fondly than it is. Whilst it is on most best of lists, it's ranking should generally be higher than its usual mid table.

Deep Purple - In Rock

Ever watched a movie that seems to have 30 minutes of storyline stretched out over 2 hours? That's what this album feels like to me: 90 seconds of content per song, stretched out over 8 minutes.

Dove - The Last Broadcast

know a lot of people love this album, it's Mercury nominated, but I have never even come close to getting it.
To me, this comes across like a poor copy of Coldplay, and I can't stand Coldplay in the first place.

U2 - Achtung Baby

Perhaps the last great U2 album. Although Zooropa and Pop had their moments, this is the last great one end to end for me.

So many great tracks on this. Some filler, but a lot of memorable ones.

Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul

If you were to describe this album, three cheesy 'loverman' songs and an 18 minute story of a guy leaving his ex, they'd probably scoff.

But this is genuinely really good.

Neil Young - Harvest.

An album that has grown on me over the years. Although I knew it was considered legendary, I didn't really get it when I was younger but my tastes have changed. Now I appreciate its slow and mellow mood.

Ocean Colour Scene - Moseley Shoals

Second effort by OCS is so different, and so much better, than their watered down self-titled debut.

As I had this on tape as a teen, it got heavy play on my paper round and therefore holds special memories for me.

Nirvana - Nevermind

Another classic. Arguably Grunge's high watermark, certainly its most successful album.

I imagine most music collections include this album. Still popular with my daughters' generation.

Arrested Development - 3 years, 5 months and 2 days in the life of...

Very much enjoyed this. 90s hip hop but with positive vibes. In an era of aggressive gangsta rap, this must have been a revelation.

#NowSpinning The Stone Roses - The Second Coming.

I know this album was a big disappointment to many but I think it was great in its own right.

If you forget it came after an unsurmountable predecessor, it's a great stand alone album.

Next up on my Stone Roses #vinyl marathon, This is the one!

#NowSpinning The Stone Roses

Close to a peerless album. Easily in my top 3 but the one of my top 3 that everyone seems to agree with. It makes it onto so many best lists it's crazy, but fully deserved.

Family are out at Wicked so with the house to myself, and after the sad loss of Mani this week, it seems like a good time for a Stone Roses #vinyl marathon.

First up, Turned into Stone.
Great, if somewhat controversial, compilation of their early singles and B-Sides.

Proper gutted to hear of the death of Mani. Along with Peter Hook, Simon Gallup and Andy Rourke, one of those few bassists who could be the lead melodic instrument on a rock song and it still be great.

The bass intro to I Wanna be Adored will remain one of the greatest album openings of all time.

The Cure - Disintegration

If you were to put a gun to my head, I'd probably say this is the greatest album of all time. Whilst that opinion may vary depending on mood, I'm certain Plainsong is the greatest opening track.

The Shamen - En-Tact

Interesting contradiction of an album. On the one hand, it shows they were more than a few gimmick songs. But on the other hand this is too long, with too many remixes, meaning it gets super repetitive.

The Cure - Seventeen Seconds

I'm a fan of their debut, Three Ordinary Boys, but it is musically quite thin. This is a meteoric step forward in musical depth and already their signature sound, at least their Gothic style, comes through.

Snoop Dogg - Doggy Style

I know Snoop Dogg as a personality is considered a legend, but I just can't finish this.

I can't comment on the use of that certain word, it is not my culture. But the level of misogyny on this is disgusting, for any era.

Great night with the youngest watching English Teacher at The Foundry, Sheffield.

They build their set so we'll, starting with their art-rock and building to their more noise-rock tracks.

The Orielles were a good support act also. Will seek out their stuff again.

Not familiar with their work, but enjoyed this. At different times it reminded my of some of the Britpop adjacent band's that I enjoyed around this time like Mansun, Gene and My Life Story.

Jacob Alon - In Limerence

Maybe my favourite debut of the year. So vulnerable and enchanting at the same time. Their style is unique, but in their vocals, you'd often swear you were listening to Sin-é era Jeff Buckley.

Parliament - Mothership Connection

This is some of the smoothest funk. Smooth with a capital smooo, as the Cat would say.

Though the less said about the ridiculous final track, the better.

The Renaissance - Q Tip

Didn't really do anything for me. Not as good as some of the other hip-hop on the list. And as it's not my genre, just okay hip-hop isn't for me.

The Cure - Head on the door.

This was arguably the album where The Cure first successfully blended their gloomy and poppy sides. Both had been evident before, but rarely so consistently mixed as this album.

Album #72 Miles Davis - In a silent way.

Best jazz album so far. The lack of random sound explosions and the infused use of calming early electronica makes this much more palatable to someone like me than most jazz.
