picking up the toddler from 2K at 5:00 in September: “let us walk home in the jaunty sunshine of early childhood education”

the present is violent and shameful, but to add insult to injury, it’s also embarrassingly stupid, like: “our ancient, 50/50-on-what-day-of-the-week-it-is president expressed killing the opposition via an Iron Cross anon account he ReTruthed (a feature from a social media site he owns)”

two criticisms of Zohran in the talksphere right now are 1) appointing a police commissioner who associates with people who call him a terrorist 2) endorsing a Palestinian candidate for NYSA who said 9/11 wasn’t worse than colonialism

which is to say: NYC bay-bee! a tent as big as the Apple!

hey does anyone with saṃsāra experience know what to do about the cyclicity of all life, matter, and existence? Reddit wasn’t helpful

“the crisis has loosely or ill defined benchmarks for improvement” feels like a reasonable but selective critique, like, you could describe a lot of things this way

I love the Dropkick Murphys because "Irish-American" + "gen X" + "punk rocker who's been at it for 30 years" should be the formula for the most racist guy alive but instead Ken Casey is constantly giving interviews where he's like "fascists are demons from hell and that's where they belong"

wild that I haven’t seen a single person post the Justin Timberlake “it’s gonna be May” meme today — really shows how far it’s fallen off

one interesting thing I’ve found via making these running playlists is that it’s surprisingly difficult to find songs by exact length. Google is very scant with it, LLM’s hallucinate them almost 100% of the time. obviously I just sort my Apple Music and add from there but I can’t make it any easier.

my kind of hot take is that all of these guys are individually great but this album would’ve more likely sounded kinda bad (or at least not amazing) than good; I don’t imagine Paul and Tony getting along musically *at all*.

I know there are dimensions of this that are obviously much worse, like poor parents being taken from their children, but there've been so many stories of friends and colleagues in the music world on O-1's that have been deported or laying low abroad amidst pressure and it makes me so fucking angry

i think that a lot of people (of all ideological varieties) conflate "face genuine economic pressures personally", "face structural trends that favor certain forms of conservatism", and "have personal issues that funnel them into extreme politics" into a single issue and that's unhelpful
No, the neo-Nazism of young Republican staffers is not driven by economic anxiety

tbc, I think this is a big long shot for Ossé, as Jeffries is well-liked and strongly demo-aligned in his district, but man, if he managed to both knock him out AND put a damper on the stupid ways people use “gentrifier”…

it always seemed like Dasha Nekrosova’s casting in Succession was a sort of meta-commentary on the increasingly bizarre world of Internet politics, and the question was “how long will she actually have a career for” and honestly, “four years” was longer than I thought
