I’m starting to wonder if there’s a relationship between being racist, nasty, and stupid

There are also conspiracy theory about Jesus and Mary having crescent moons around their heads (because Islam, or something).
Firstly, Muslims are not permitted to make images of Jesus, so if it is an Islamic conspiracy theory, it’s a bad one.
Secondly, see how halos have worked for 2 millennia

The right (far right) are angry about these postage stamps. On the left, Mary holding Jesus - both have brown skin, and Mary is wearing pink which historically symbolises her (I think?) love and devotion.
On the right is the new “fixed” version of the stamp. Made by, and for, nasty little racists

I received a reply from @dramys.bsky.social about contributing to a panel, so this is what we have so far. If you know of anyone else who wants to think broadly about performance and the Reformation(s), please let me know.
This is our working abstract - full text in the Alt description too

It’s a big claim, but I think this is the nicest beer I’ve ever had. Old Bones.

From All Day Brewery, Norfolk. It’s a 9% ale, brewed in English Whisky aged cherry wood smoked barrels. Just sensational

A colleague gave me a large selection of books, including the full set of Richard Muller’s Post Reformation Reformed Dogmatics.

I’m very excited to have received my contributor’s copy of ‘Amazing Grace at 250’ edited by @mvclarke.bsky.social and Gareth Atkins. I was really pleased to be asked to work on this chapter, in which I trace the various tunes which were paired with ‘Amazing Grace’

Happy Friday. Here’s a kick-ass dog wearing goggles riding a motorbike, going into the weekend like it means business.

Go thou and do likewise

I saw this on the Bad Place.

First, if he believed the Gospel he would repent of wearing glasses.

Second, I was diagnosed with depression 2018 and now in 2025 I don’t think about crashing my car anymore. I still take my medication daily.

Third, I hate this take so deeply

All set up for my outdoor gig this evening. I’m very aware of how ginger I am, so I’m going to spend the week looking like a tub of raspberry ripple ice cream

These two photos show how strange and contrasting my life can be - a Friday evening wedding gig, and then a Saturday hosting a research conference

When I was 18, I played in a band with a guy called Liam Fender. His annoying little brother, Sam, used to interrupt our rehearsals.

Fast forward 22 years, and I’m watching Sam headline at St. James’ Park. He’s an incredible talent, and deserves his success. The gig was amazing

They were a bit overdone. I should have put them on later and only let the internal temp get to 60. They were pretty good though, seasoned in salt and pepper - could have taken a bit more of each. 6/10, good starting attempt and will try again

The reverse-seared steaks. I chose especially thick steaks - rump - and set them going at 125 degrees Celsius on my mini ceramic egg bbq.
Then I opened the bbq up to let the coals ignite and seared them
