@tkingfisher.com I finished What Stalks the Deep and it was wonderful! Whenever I think of your "What [verb]s the [noun]" series, I think of this absolutely real album cover, especially because of the subtitle under the illustration.

"Who swarms" sounds like the first half of a future title.

Sunsets in this part of the world are seriously pretty.

In the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, nearly an hour from the closest city, a small group of homesteaders is building an exclusive community from scratch. Applicants to the community are screened with an in-person interview, a criminal-background check, a questionnaire about ancestral heritage and sometimes even photographs of their relatives. The community’s two architects — a classically trained French horn player who has livestreamed his own sex videos, and a former jazz pianist arrested but not charged for attempted murder in Ecuador — say they must personally confirm that applicants are white before they can be welcomed in.

Our corner of the world gets incredible sunsets.
Recent sunset over Camarillo, seen from the powerline trail in Newbury Park. The sky is in improbably soft gradient from a desaturated blue at the top to a very very warm and soft orange-brown at the horizon. In the foreground are two hills, the right one featuring a pair of electricity pylons with the powerlines bisecting the image in half. In the background are multiple layers of hills separated by fields of fog, becoming lighter and lighter into the distance, like some 90s sidescroller with gorgeous parallax scrolling.
