This is crazy. It's like a supercharged "shoot first, ask questions later" tactic from Mao-era China (it's everyone's patriotic duty to "spy on your neighbors").

That's interesting. There's a range of reform proposals.

The speaker *is* liable, other than certain free speech protections, which apply with substantial force to anonymous internet postings. The issue is whether the platform is *also* liable, for facilitating the wrongful conduct.

"One" must carry? I am 100% sure he doesn't mean "everyone" when he says "one." These ICE guys are such assholes.
December 13, 2025 at 3:49 PM
Yeah, he's not the one. I'm not sure who is, but it'll have to be someone more gruff, less smooth, who comes off less like a polished lifetime politician. I'm sure we have many good candidates (no, not Stephen A. Smith or Mark Cuban), but this guy isn't one of 'em.

Like, what if, say, twitter is shown to manipulate its algorithms so neo-Nazis pop to the top of every page and, as a result, terrifying tortious remarks are elevated and --> horrific conduct/widespread defamation that wouldn't have occured "but for" twitter's conduct. § 230 should protect twitter?
December 13, 2025 at 2:19 PM
As I understand it, § 230 insulates social media platforms for the tortious remarks of its users. The "reform" argument is that this emboldens tortious conduct. The "anti-reform" argument is that reform benefits big platforms and hurts smaller, progressive platforms. Is there no middle-ground?

Well, as a Miami (okay, Coral Gables) resident, I can tell you, this is admirable, but it's a TALLLLLLL order. I'm rooting for her, but ... yikes.

A very famous joke! (If, I suppose, you are of a certain age and era, lol)

Em dashes are the best, and I hate that AI has made them a writing "red flag." I'm still gonna use 'em, all day, every day.

Proud of my city (Or wait, is Coral Gables an adjacent city? Either way!)

Whatever, fine, install a workout area in the airport, but why must everything with these guys come back to knuckle-dragging performative macho bulls--t?

Would deregulation allow banks to resume the kind of strategies that led to the Great Recession (or have we already rolled back the regulations designed to prevent the collateralized debt obligation ("CDO") / credit default swaps ("CDS") / housing meltdown nightmare of the late 00s)?

I didn't even know People Magazine was still a going concern. Are you suggesting coverage like this means discontent with, and anger over, Trump's immigration / deportation policies has reached a mainstream level?

The name of the band is Jessie's Girl? Like the old Rick Springfield song? Like an homage to a cultural artifact from ancient times? Good grief, I am *old* now.
