overthinking.exe is just a process, and it's full of bugs.

You are not that process.

You are the Operating System.

Stop letting malware sabotage your business.

Your Human Operating System has limited processing power.

How are you using it today?

"Trying harder" gets you from 0-90% effectiveness, but it can't get you beyond.

The highest levels of effectiveness demand your full capacity, but forceful effort eats up a significant portion of it.

The wise masters of the past said nothing about the future.

Let us not cling to their teachings on conduct. They were for a different time.

When we seek enlightenment elsewhere, all we find is mental speculation.
January 18, 2026 at 3:34 PM
Disciplined effort can get you to 90% effectiveness, but never beyond—because it requires at least 10% of your energy to run.

If you wish to realize your full potential, you must free up that reserve and run entirely on inspiration and compassion.
January 17, 2026 at 3:31 PM
True effectiveness is effortless.

When you’re aligned, inspiration and compassion occur naturally.

These are the most potent fuels for any goal.

Would you trade gratification for peace?

Advice is best given like water to one whose throat is dry.

May I emanate benefit in all directions.

May I be fuelled by infinite compassion.

May those I aid go on to aid others.

May all suffering be extinguished.

There's no vacation from anxiety.

You can't escape it.

You gotta see through it.
January 13, 2026 at 3:28 PM
The other side of not being desperate for something is not being ecstatic when it arrives.

Can you live without that?

Your purpose may depend on it.

Synthetic popstars,
perfectly tuned:
soulless.

the birds sing outside.

It takes courage to abandon a ship.
Even when you know it’s sinking.

The sooner you shift your attitude from:

“My spiritual practice is about feeling better”

to

“My spiritual practice is about seeing clearly”

The sooner you'll feel better.

What awakening is really like:

1. You "zoom out" and stop wrestling with your experience for just a brief moment.

2. You see a buggy mental/emotional process like anxiety running.

3. You acknowledge this simple seeing as a success.
January 8, 2026 at 3:34 PM
Real spiritual practice is not about changing what you’re thinking and feeling.

It's about *seeing* what you’re thinking and feeling.

Once you see your thoughts and feelings clearly, you recognize how harmful and unnecessary many of them are.

Wanting to feel good is not a good feeling.

Accept that you might feel like absolute shit forever and ever with no relief.

Paradoxically, that *is* relief.
January 6, 2026 at 3:31 PM
Pinnacle spiritual practices across time and culture have always been *effortless* when approached with the correct view and attitude.
January 5, 2026 at 3:28 PM
We hear many stories of dramatic "awakening events".

We often want one of our own—I certainly did.

We must acknowledge and reacknowledge that awakening is different for everyone.

For illustration, awakenings can be placed into two categories: "sudden" and "gradual".
January 4, 2026 at 3:30 PM
There are inifinitely many "spiritual experiences" to be had on the path:

- Visions in meditation
- Energetic openings
- Periods of ecstasy

These are all wonderful, but they are ultimately unimportant.

In 2018, before I went to visit my first dharma teacher in Thailand, my parents shared their concern that I might become a spiritual zombie and stop being "their Dan".
January 2, 2026 at 3:33 PM
When I was first experimenting with "letting go" back in 2016, I was terrified that if I went too far I would end up being a total loser.

"If I stop forcing myself to do what I should be doing, why won't I just drink beer, eat Doritos and play PS4 all day?"

Awareness has never been stressed: it is the space in which stress occurs.
December 31, 2025 at 3:26 PM
Don't try to sustain inner peace.

Just enjoy one more brief moment.

And another.

And another.
