It sure is tiring @euanritchie.bsky.social 😩
A reminder of last summer in southern Tassie, salps, followed by red tide, followed by voracious moon jellyfish and within all this mess was million+ farmed salmon deaths.

I understand it’s not that big an active area for cray fisheries but it’s begins to get pretty wild and of course, very beautiful south of Partridge Island

Indefinite closure of commercial crayfish due to antibiotic release in farmed salmon.
From the map it appears that NRE are predicting southwards drift of the antibiotic into the southern waters of the Channel . That’s not the 3km no fishing zone publicly called.

Can’t pass up such a cracker of an opportunity for some gruesome fact checking. When Adélie penguins die, their bodies sort of get mashed into the ground eventually, creating a very soft, but gruesome pinkish carpet, that’s very unnerving to walk across 😬💀

#Dailyglimmer So quick you could miss it. Noticed a rather fluffy ball in a Blackwood, that turned into two fluff balls, then became two yellow mouths when food came close. Two wattle bird chicks in a wattle tree, & parents that can barely keep up feeding them. I bet they’re keen for a fledging date

#Dailyglimmer Attended a smoking ceremony led by Palawa leader Trish Hodge the other day. She kindly shared her knowledge of country & I got a quick look at her new wonderful book, Palawa tunapri - Knowledge of Our Ancestors, on uses of hundred of native plants in Lutruwita/ Tasmania. 🌱

Toxic salmon farming is rampant in the south east of Tasmania

Here is the map of just the D'Entrecasteaux Channel showing the extent of leases and the minimum area about to impacted by release of Florfenicol.

Preparing a talk on being resilient in the face of shitfuckery

I thought I would share one on my slides 😁

Certainly learnt to be resilient, creative & persistent in an environment where you were tolerated but not ‘enabled to thrive’ . The idea that Ginger Roger’s did everything that Fred Astaire did, but backwards & in high heels resonated, as well as this quote👇🏽. Also defined my own view of ‘success’

Oooh drama! Now Brad, our resident stud’s in & the little female not having any of his advances! You go gurl!

@euanritchie.bsky.social Could this mean the young male above is a sneaky f**cker?

fyi - sneaky f**ckers is a common term to describe a male that sneaks into a dominant male’s territory

#Dailyglimmer Aaww - two youngsters hooking up. These two have been very, very affectionate. Little pretend fights, kissing, preening each other, grazing together, then gently bonking in broad daylight 😲😂

#Dailyglimmer Time and space travel via music. Got to experience the Van Dieman’s Band & the St James Choir’s performance of pre Baroque Venetian sacred symphonies in the space of St David’s Cathedral, Hobart. Pretty uplifting. Sound up

The battleship grey is a poor mismatch against the yellow and green, the grey panels are not sensitive to the Victorian finials and curves 😵‍💫

Questions over $20m historic hall revamp in Launceston .

My question is why would such a battleship grey monstrosity even get up as an idea in the first place?

#DailyGlimmer Ooooh! First look at the spring time babies! Sooo cute!

The mumma’s pouches have getting bigger by the week, and now we can see why 🥰

#DailyGlimmer Meet Alice. Alice Pademelon, spends the most time in our garden. She like to watch us during the day. I clocked a moment between Alice & our pupper this morning. I swear there was almost a head tilt greeting between them. Alice stood her ground & my girl smiled & took an alternate path
