Here‘s some nice art.

“Experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer than to right themselves by abolishing an evil government. But after a long train of abuses, when the leader seeks to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government.”

The Smithsonian has taken down details about Trump’s impeachments from an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery and replaced the original painting with one of him standing in the Oval Office with two fists on the Resolute Desk.

It’s probably only a matter of time until each of us is harassed for being here.

Congress has granted administrative subpoena power to some federal agencies. They don’t need a judge’s sign-off. These agencies can demand documents without probable cause nor an ongoing investigation against you.

It occurs to me that along with everything else MAGA + GOP does that has been projecting, we can add one more thing to the list:

FAKE NEWS.

Conservative-aligned tech oligarchs are about to unleash AI and ensure that social media and video “news” production will include a large amount of deep fakes

They aren’t going to stop until there are consequences.

Their notion of democracy is a relatively small number of people with "skin in the game" (read: the ownership class) get to have all the say and everyone else has to live with what they want.

What sort of consequences should there be?
Are Republicans on Board With Trump’s Plan for a GOP Takeover of Elections? It’s Complicated.
It’s not what the president is asking for, but the party has a federal election plan of its own.

Our founders, though deeply flawed, understood that democracy requires an informed citizenry and a government accountable to it people. That’s why the press is the only profession protected by the Constitution. It’s also why autocrats and oligarchs seek to control and destroy it.

the $75 million Jeff Bezos set on fire for that Melania propaganda piece could have funded most independent newsrooms for literally decades
always bears repeating that this is NOT a financial decision. jeff bezos is worth over 250 billion dollars. he can afford to lose many millions and never even notice it. this is, at its core, a political and personal decision by bezos to destroy the post
WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Post says one-third of its staff across all departments, not just the newsroom, is being laid off.

I get how the product keys could slip through, but the names of victims in dozens of documents? Do these people not know how to Ctrl + F? Is it possible the DOJ is so unsophisticated that it has no software that would flag images of the names? Have they never redacted anything before?
