Like for decades a common retort to racism from a certain kind of lib was basically "I bet you eat Turkish/Indian/Chinese food though 😏" and that has filtered through into British racists pretending migrant food cultures are bad actually. Because it turns out they *do* like racism more than flavour.

Oh no yeah, it's 100% just fucking weird racism. Like, same reason the same types of people will pretend to be disgusted by curries or things with a bit of kick to them. It's not because they don't know there's a reason that cuisines from other countries dominate the food industry here.

Both the EHRC and the Supreme Court have repeatedly claimed that it is legally permissable to exclude trans people from spaces of our "biological sex." So no, they wouldn't, necessarily, and this is in fact, a widely shared concern. You don't actually know what the fuck you're on about, do you?

Like I read the threads on their shitty little forum as the realisation they'd fucked up filtered through. Many of them were horrified that they'd treated somebody like them the way they treat us and it prompted exactly 0 seconds of reflection about what that says about their whole movement.

I also think a lot of you are being wildly optimistic about cis people's capacity for soldarity with trannies tbh. Like when Mumsnetter's realosed they were harassing a cis woman here, they didn't apologise for the harassment, the apologised for targeted it at the wrong type of person.

I think there's a difference between raising a point of possible solidarity and erasing the specific, intentional and especially egregious effect on trans people. It's the latter that bugs me.
