One of my favorite series got a new entry at last - and my copy just arrived in the mail! If anyone needs me, I’ll be on Viewros.

If I had a nickel for every time I’ve played a game released in 2025 that directly references Rule of Rose, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

*me seeing all the AdventureX posts*

Someday I’ll be able to make it over to London - looking forward to reading/watching all the coverage as it comes out though!

Adventure: Foolish Mortals, with shoutouts to Old Skies and The Drifter

This year has been absolutely incredible for adventure games, and even still Foolish Mortals comes out on top for me. A true love letter to the genre and a stunning achievement!

Action: Hotel Barcelona, with a shoutout to South of Midnight

Sometimes, I just like some good dumb fun - especially with B horror schlock. Hotel Barcelona isn’t a great game, but it’s a definite guilty pleasure and one that adheres to my weird tastes in nonsensical horror.

Horror: Bye Sweet Carole, with shoutouts to The Midnight Walk and Silent Hill f

A true spiritual sequel to the original Clock Tower, Bye Sweet Carole is a love letter to old school horror that cannot be missed!

Racing: Sonic Racing Crossworlds, with a shoutout to Mario Kart World

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure if Crossworlds would be able to meet my expectations of a follow-up to the incredible All Star Racing Transformed. Somehow, they did it - not only is it fast and fun, it’s packed with stuff to do!

Platformer: Donkey Kong Bananza

I don’t play many platformers, but I have a soft spot for great 3D collect-a-thons and a lot of nostalgia for the old Rareware era of Donkey Kong games. Bananza does this while weaving in beat-em-up elements and world traversal unlike anything I’ve seen before.

RPG: Look Outside, with shoutouts to Cabernet, Stray Children, and Expedition 33

A game that combines my loves of cosmic horror, dark humor, gorgeous pixel art, and fascinating lore - and it only got better with each update pushed out.

Started playing Stray Children and The Seance of Blake Manor this past week - how am I seeing so little buzz about these masterpieces?? I haven’t gotten to the end in either (about 3 hours each) but they’re both incredible so far and more people need to check them out!

Had to test out the new sweet CD-ROM drive on the family desktop! To this day Myst is the only game I ever convinced my dad to play (even if we could never beat it back then).

Finally managed to track down a copy of the elusive Space Quest III vinyl and it arrived in the mail today - been on the lookout since nabbing SQIV’s at the AGFF last year, signed by Ken Allen!

Happy 29 years to this weird little game!

10 games to get to know me (redid mine with slightly more effort)

Oh man I had so much trouble trying to get 10 game covers to FIT

Today I completed my Neverhood/Klaymen collection, with the Skullmonkeys guide arriving in the mail! Been a fun journey tracking all of these down, and without a dime going to Doug Tennapel (because he is a genuinely terrible human being). Hope we see more claymation in games in the future!

If you could, which adventure game works would you like to visit?

Switch 2 won’t be here until tomorrow, but today I had a very special item arrive in the mail: this is a dev team shirt given out at the launch celebration for Planescape: Torment. This game led to my love of surreal narrative based RPGs, and is still just as good today as it was when it released!

Yeah this year has been incredible for games so far - not pictured are Expedition 33 and The Midnight Walk, both of which I’m currently playing through and both incredible so far but I haven’t finished either yet.

Finding a comically sun faded copy of the 7th Guest/11th Hour collection wasn’t on my bingo card for today, but - sure!

Received a very special game in the mail today!

Nearly 5 months after my review for the game was published, just received my CE of Clock Tower: Rewind in the mail! Regardless of how I feel about the various changes in this version of the game, I’m still happy to own a new version of one of my favorite horror adventures ✂️
