Testing out the lastest fountain pen in my collection - the TWSBI Eco EF with Diamine Onyx Black. This is a haiku I made up inspired by the first few chapters from Thomas Hardy's Far From the Madding Crowd

Catching reflections,
A flurry of fruitless words,
Snuffed out winter dreams.

As a person with acne, this helps my self-image: studying the faces of people who have it, and realizing they are still beautiful even though their skin has imperfections.

Just finished the line work for my first drawing of the year. I had a lot of fun working on this one. Now to decide whether to add some shading or not, I can't colour this because it's not on watercolour paper, unfortunately 🪽

WIP 5 - I'm leaving the arms last to ink as I want to reposition them to tilt up a bit more. It's a bit more challenging for me, but if I get it right, I think it will look better. If not, at least I've left my comfort zone!

Final sketch of the year, this time of Terra. I got her proportions off right off the bat, but I'm glad I committed with ink only, even though it's not how I envisioned the sketch to be. Definitely tried to cut some corners to draw the Magitek Armour 😅

I'm trying to get back into sketching freehand with pen, and it's very nerve-racking, but I'm hoping it would improve my line quality. Drawing in pen also means that I'll have to live with mistakes like the proportion of Frieren's right ear in the bottom sketch.

I had a lot of fun painting these two rocks with gouache. I'm still trying to figure out the nuances of this medium, having only used it in the past by combining white gouache and watercolour.
