#ICEOUT
a black and white ink illustration on 14x17 inch bristol paper. Jay Corvidae from EIGHTY DAYS turns the corner of a building. his back is turned to the viewer as he walks to the left of frame. his left hand is tucked in his pocket and in his right he holds something small and stick-like. a couple of nails have fallen out of his pocket. to his right, taking up much more of the composition, is a massive dark wall covered in thick textured brushstrokes, broken up by clean white pieces of paper that have been nailed into the wall. all of them say "ICE OUT". on the far right of the photo are the hake and sable brushes i used to paint this.

yeah like a scavenger hunt! i thought it was clever. parents could steer younger kids to balloon tables while browsing along the way/at neighboring tables + artists get to decide for themselves which way theyre leaning in terms of audience

i believe CXC offered artists an opt-in on the form to identify themselves as a kid-friendly table, and those tables got a balloon. something easy for kids to spot while roaming the floor.

cool down sketch. i still think about modern AU punk fix vulpes sometimes.
a bunch of loose black ink drawings in my sketchbook. at the bottom is a sketch of Fix Vulpes from EIGHTY DAYS but in a modern setting, sitting on a curb marked "NO PARKING TOW AWAY ZONE" with little weeds and clovers growing out of the cracks; he is wearing a spiked and studded oversize leather jacket over a tank top, two metallic necklaces, jeans covered in zippers and ripped at the knees and short boots bedazzled with sequins (likely a DIY job). at the top of the page are two scribbly thumbnails and a very minimal gesture drawing of jay corvidae in a long double-vented coat from the back, walking away from the viewer. to the right is the fountain pen i used to make these

warm up / fountain pen ink study of Pamela Colman Smith's 1909 tarot deck ๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ๐Ÿƒ
a loose linework drawing in black fountain pen ink in my sketchbook. it is a study of the composition of the Death card in the 1909 tarot deck illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith, but with my characters: a knight armored in black and mounted on a horse rides in profile from the left of the frame, one hand holding the staff of a large black banner with the roman numerals XIII and a large white flower on it. behind them, the sun is low on the horizon between distant towers and trees. on the ground about the horse's feet are clusters of amanita (deathcap) mushrooms and three figures: one in a crown and bejeweled lacy robes holding her hands up as if beseeching the knight, one with long hair and a white dress slumped to her side as if falling asleep (or dying) and one completely flat on their back on the ground, though their head is turned to smirk directly at the viewer and they are making a peace sign with one hand.
