Bikes. Trains. Remove cars.
The capitalist dream… why make real money when you can make fake, speculative money on something that literally gives you the wrong answer 45% of the time. #ia #itsnotabubble

Well said!

New signs, lights, and paint at the #Delft bike parking station!

Can you carry everything you need to run a bike pop-up shop (tent, chairs, table, tools, bike stand, etc) on a bike? Yeah. #bakfiets #cargobike

This is not because I like bikes. I once saw a police chase a bike and because the police car couldn’t go through tight spots and through grass, the bike toyed with the cop for 2-3 minutes before easily getting way. Fatbikes have the advantage of speed and off-road tires as well.

Speeding by all the cars in a train near Amsterdam. I was told cars were freedom.

Sorry this is at night, but here’s a good example of low, angled curbs and the X is a loading zone. Hopefully everyone can see it well enough.

I am absolutely in favor for zoning reform and reducing minimum parking requirements, but the “NYT democrats” seriously think we can tweak a few regulations (specifically in large urban areas) and America will be fixed. This is abundantly stupid.

They say green and blue have positive psychology and health benefits, but (at least for me) the dark red color of a Dutch bike lane should be added to this! #Leiden

Can we wind down Silicon Valley and venture capital. The “dumb” is too much.

“The Netherlands wants to lure American scientists, and Anne knows how.”

I wonder how many other countries are trying to recruit our scientists.

One of my favorite scenic spots. Between Delft and Schipluiden.

Removing cars from your city center is clearly terrible for business. All these damn people shopping and dining out. But we’re not… (fill in place).

This is how most of the world is. God, Americans are stupid. There’s always some dumbass excuse for why our snowflake country can’t do this.

Elements that create a quiet streets:

1. Bump outs with speed bumps
2. Raised intersections
3. Switch parking each block
4. Narrow roads

It’s not really that cities are loud because there’s a lot of people. This place is way more dense that most cities in the U.S. There are ways to do this.

I short video of some places on my bike ride today through #Delft. I went out to the countryside to see “de lepelaars” (a rare bird with look flat black beaks).

While I’m not that big of a fan of modern architecture, I still like this. It breaks up the 5 over 1 and makes it interesting. More importantly, the road in front is designed for slow car traffic (brick and speed bumps) and is very comfortable for walking and biking. #Delft

I prefer shopping local, but if I’m going to order online, I like that it’s probably getting here by foot or by bike! But this requires good infrastructure to accomplish.

TBH, the last few months that I was in the U.S. biking was losing its joy. The constant danger and the amount of just absolute asshole drivers sucks. Here, there’s very little stress and the freedom of mobility for all ages is truly amazing. This image is normal… and that’s how it should be.

Can someone sent a copy of this book the Sean Duffy explaining why cars in NYC are mostly a bad idea. It’s written by a right leaning journalist from the New York Post. That way he doesn’t have to do the dumbest policies ever just to “own a lib”.

I think this is so cool. Using lights to create bike parking!

There’s a guy with a bakfiets who is fixing his kids skateboard. He has his own longboard. His daughter is rollerblading. The son is biking around. The daughter also has a bike. He just pulled out a scooter. He’s now filming them as he rides along with them. God, I love this place! #delft

To give people an idea of how stupid this is… one of the authors of this book was the Deputy Director of 18F in its early days. I learned an incredible amount from guys like Jez Humble. I’m pretty sure 18F had a big role in creating AWS Cloudgov.

Cargo bikes and cleaning our bike trail (KY floods).

@thewaroncars.bsky.social Just listened to the Super Bowl episode and I’ve already found the “soyboy” version of a Jeep. Took this a couple years ago in Utrecht.
