Since 2020, the Dadan Archaeological Project (DAP) – carried out by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in collaboration with RCU and AFALULA – has shed new and critical light on the history of ancient Dadan, one of the major oasis cities of ancient Northwest Arabia.

This week, two members of the #DadanArchaeologicalProject, Mohammed Hamzi and the mission’s co-director, Dr. Jérôme Rohmer, were honored to be invited to the Zhengzhou–AlUla Archaeology Seminar 2025 in China.

As the Dadan Archaeological Project team, we’re pleased to see al-ʿUlā represented in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Valley of Memory. The game includes views of ancient Dadan, notably the Lion Tombs.

Members of the Dadan Archaeological Project presented new archaeozoological results at a workshop, focusing on an urban quarter at Dadan. The dataset spans ca. 2,500 years of occupation, from the Middle Bronze Age to the 3rd century CE.
