(this is a charitable read because if he's just griefing trans people bc he's high-key transphobic, then he's boring and i have nothing for him other than a xeroxed fuck-off form letter)

vast majority don't do this nostalgic headassery, bc they always empathized w queer youth who need those rights or couldn't make that journey

but it's fascinating to see that headassery take the form of trademark-bsky "imagine being dumb enough to fight for a better world lol" doomer oneupsmanship

i know that a lot of older cis gays feel many rights gained in the Love Wins era aren't For Them. scorched earth nc with their parents, moved to a major city, queer-only social circle, no tears shed over any bigoted firing, no regrets. i can't begrude them romanticizing their experiences but GODDAMN

i think gears of war was the only one that got flak about it, and that was mostly done affectionately, esp since that series' character designs pushed it into the sublimely ludicrous. gears of war is to yoked as vivziepop is to skinny.
