And if all these people are talking like AI is magic, then the reality is, that compared to the expectatiom of magic AI is crap. Just stochastic parrots.

In my experience more people, especially CEOs of AI Corps, talk about replacing Devs in the next 6 months for more than 3 years now. That is obviously a PR stunt. All Devs I know use it to some extent. None of them believe it makes them 100% faster, not even 50%.

Software Developer here, I use AI everyday, but it is still mid. It makes me sometimes 10% faster, often it slows me down. The only code base I can see where it makes you immensely faster is a green field javascript/python hobby project. In a legacy Java codebase it is as clueless as me.

But, I don't know, it is just not for me. So I came back to Rust and I must say the tooling and ecosystem around Rust just make such a big difference for me. So I guess I will just stay with Rust for now. Let's see how bad the compile times for small game will get. #gamedev

Maybe I could live without a package manager. But also the LSP is not as good as the LSP for other languages and I do not like the metaprogramming game in Odin. Then I tried zig: The tooling is okay, even if writing your own build.zig can be a difficult task. Interfacing with C code is really easy..

But which language to use? I tried three that I was interested in: #odinlang, #ziglang and #rustlang. Odin has raylib bindings out of the box which is great. But the approach of minimal tooling around Odin is not for me. I get it: npm and cargo can be a mess..

It is good. Great to have software that does exactly what one wants! :)

I am not that proficient in Rust (writing mainly Java and Javascript on the job). Getting the state and the UI behave nicely with the borrow checker was the hardest part I guess. Other than that I really enjoyed the DX of Rust.

Am I the only one who sees Rami Malek from Mr. Robot there?
