We’ve had Polestar 2 EV for about 3 years and really love it! It doesn’t have the best range or charging time but it drives great, is super well built, and nice design, that is what drew us to it. Our other EV is a Hyundai Ioniq 5 which has incredible range and charging speed. They are a nice duo. ☺️

Did you know Teslas charge slower on their own superchargers than a Hyundai Ioniq 5?
If you have driven a lot of different EVs it becomes pretty clear they are behind.
But even though they are sub par vehicles, also just no.

One from the archives. An engineer was exploring some pretty interesting clambering suspension that he thought might be a good fit for a road going quad and engaged me to do some ideation around what it could look like as a vehicle. These were from 2006! 20 years ago.

I hope I’m wrong and it’s a great car! We need some more options in that reasonably sized sedan class. Does it have a lift back?
That is one feature of our Polestar that I really love coming from driving hatchbacks for years. Had a Golf R and a Mini prior.

The cool thing about electricity, you can make it a dozen different ways locally. A lot of our electricity here comes from a series hydro electric dams like the Bonneville dam just outside of Portland. And we get more and more from regional wind & solar, stored in batteries and then distributed.

Ironic that some of the best selling EVs sold in the US and the only US made car I've ever bought was an EV made in Georgia. Have pride in your Georgia made EVs folks! They are some of the best cars available in the US. www.cars.com/articles/202...

a couple of cars that I feel this Polestar 2 EV is spiritually close to are the mid 2000's Audi A4 and the SAAB 900, both within a few inches in every dimension. For a modern car it is pretty reasonably sized.

I used to think it was too tall initially. Polestar actually sells a lowering kit from the factory to get it to sit down an inch the way the BST edition does. What flipped me was parking next to a mid 2000s BMW 5 series which is only .5" lower. The current BMW 5 series is acutely 1.3" taller!

American car companies can’t even make sedans anymore with any fuel type. Meanwhile my buddy traveling in China is posting pictures of fastback EVs that have animated LED characters on the back.

“EV maintenance is a nightmare!” … I just performed the only service I’ll likely need for another 2 years. Windshield washer fluid. 🤣
This is what #EV owners are talking about: no oil changes, no tune ups, no timing belt, no brake service until ~120k miles, just tires & I’m still on my original set

Ironically the first American made car I ever bought was a Hyundai EV. I only ever bought Japanese or German cars before that…. My other car is a Chinese made EV.

Hmmm. I’d drop an extension cord from my window to the street. I’ve done it before when renting a place in Seattle. I dropped a cable from a second story kitchen 🤣
Maybe talk to some of the other EV residents. They seem to be making it work?

Yep. People (including myself before I read this a few months back) have no idea how often gas cars catch on fire! Though combustion is right there in the name. Ironically Hybrids are even worse than ICE cars.
