That's wild.

I assume online pornography consumption is pretty widespread in the US. What are most consumers doing?

- VPNs?
- Using non-compliant websites, torrents, etc?
- Just doing age verification?

Genuinely curious.
My very first post this year was on Pornhub blocking access to almost all of the south in response to age verification laws: bit.ly/3MOFzap

Now we're at 1/2 of all states.

The creep (sprint?) of AV in the US has been chilling to follow; read all our AV stories here: www.404media.co/tag/age-veri...

Missouri’s age verification law, enacted on November 30, is the halfway mark for the sweep of age verification laws across the country.

i say this with nothing but love for all of you to whom this applies, but the moral rot in elite journalism is because journalism is a trade and it should be done by tradespeople and instead it's been professionalized in a way that makes it cozy to capital instead

Oh, so Putin gets to and Trump doesn't?

That hardly seems fair.

Just wild that the Trump-era idea of a "big tent" is a party that tolerates diversity of thought--as long as the diversity is in terms of "more or less Nazi."

I find myself thinking about historian Robert Paxton’s 2004 definition of fascism far too often than I’d like these days. Note that these sentences were written back when Donald Trump was a NYC playboy libertine who donated to Democrats.

So much of this popularism stuff misses a very basic point: your rational incentive is not to run up the score with the biggest margin possible. It's actually to win on the *fewest* votes possible. The smallest winning coalition is what gives each constituent part the biggest say once in power.

One thing I’m slightly confused about is the claim that Maduro is using oil revenue to fund his drug smuggling.

Like, isn’t the whole point of smuggling drugs to *make* money? I’m no Maduro fan, but surely the man isn’t using the legal oil trade to subsidize Americans’ nose candy.

Just like the TikTok ban, this is a clever bit of political strategy that definitely won’t blow up in Democrats’ faces.

Children are being exploited. Let’s respond by dramatically hindering our ability to point out or criticize children being exploited, using methods we don’t understand because we’re old and incurious.

Fresh off their success revolutionizing the social media landscape, Trump's personal blog is now going to take on cold fusion.

The future is bright!

Let me get this straight: American voters hate inflation, so Trump's plan is to appoint a new Fed chair who will lower interest rates by up to a whole point while giving rambling prime-time speeches insisting the price of eggs has come down 600%?

And people think this man is a political genius?

One thing I increasingly believe is that many Trump supporters are, in some way, utilitarians: they believe the ends justify the means, and they believe America is facing such existential threats that severe means are justified.

Pointless cruelty--Trump's brand--doesn't resonate with them!
