I'm still learning to run in different heart rate zones (as my training plan desires me to do). Yesterday, I struggled a lot (was supposed to be zone 3). Today was threshold day (plus warm-up and cooldown) and that was much easier even though the target heart rate zone is very narrow.

A screenshot showing a heart rate graph that is pretty much all over the place between zone 2 and zone 5 (135 BPM - 173 BPM). 18:26 minutes were in the target zone (153 BPM - 162 BPM), 12:48 minutes were above or below that range, split almost equally into too high and too low. A heart rate graph that starts off in zone 1 and 2 during warm-up (which included a small hill that is also visible in the graph) and an almost flat line mostly in the target zone (threshold effort/zone 4 and low zone 5). Cooldown didn't get the heart rate down all that much as it also included a hill.

A small section of a printed text about cybersecurity with three highlighted words that made me chuckle this morning: "indecent response team". The author meant to write "incident response team", but apparently auto-correct had other ideas.

First frost run of the season and "fast" (whatever that means) intervals on the training plan. 🥶

Went better than expected and the bright side of the cold: I didn't overheat or sweat at all even though I went almost as fast as I could.

Love the colorful HR graph.

I hated sewing as a kid, but took it up again three years ago because the quality of store-bought clothes has gotten so poor.

I still have a lot to learn, but I feel powerful when I can fix something like this bath mat with frayed edges.

A different part of the same bath mat, now flat on a white table. The bias tape is now sewn fairly neatly around the formerly frayed edge.

Two white breakfast plates on a wooden surface - one has two apples and two bananas on it, the other ... a sweet potato that isn't particularly thick, but three times as long as your average sweet potato, with a sharp bend (almost a right angle) and the two ends sticking out far beyond the plate.

This Japanese Maple was planted by the gardeners this spring. 🌱

I'm not a huge fan of Hydrangeas as they don't offer much for wildlife in our area, but this one was already there and I have to admit it's rather pretty, even this late in the year. 🌱

Not sure why these are called "blue pillow" (Blaukissen) in German. 🤷‍♀️ 🌱

Apparently, there are a few varieties that are actually blue, but mostly this doesn't seem to be the case.

Didn't expect them to flower this year, let alone in November. I grew them from seed this spring.

A rather pink Aubrieta. The flowers are small, delicate and wet with rain. The center is light yellow. The rest of the plant is blurry, the leaves are also delicate and irregular in shape.

By comparison, I got a 5 for my (super slow and thus very long) easy run (mostly zone 1, some in zone 2, max HR is > 190 for me).

Met this beauty after my run this morning ☺️🪶
A very healthy and strong looking brown chicken (viewed from the side, it's almost posing) at the edge of a mixed forest. Lots of leaves on the ground. The chicken is right in front of a mixed hedge that ends in a wire-mesh gate on the right. According to some neighbors, the chicken will find its way home. It lives on the property behind the hedge / gate.

Ran 8k / almost 5 miles today, which is my longest run ever. I even managed to run slightly faster than my walking speed, haha.

Everything up until and including 7k (a week ago) felt easy. 8k was a bit different. Maybe I need to wait a bit before I attempt a longer run. 🤔

The tomatoes have given up last week, but the lobelias are still there!

A home-grown hazelnut cracked rather neatly into halves revealing two nuts - one in each half. The shape of the shelled nuts is more oblong than the regular ones sold at the store, resembling fat almonds more than common hazelnuts. The nuts are on a wooden surface.

My parents have a young ginkgo tree planted this spring that now has holes in the bark. I'm suspecting woodpeckers.

Or is this something more sinister? 🌱

I almost missed this beauty as it hid itself pretty well. 🌱
A nasturtium flower with an interesting pattern of irregular thick orange-red stripes pointing toward the center of the flower on a pale yellow background. The red stripes bleed into paler red spots in the outer edges of the petals. In the center, yellow "hairs"/ fingers point up and thin striking dark red lead the way deeper into the flower.

Yay, I knitted my first sweater! I've been casually knitting for many years now, but never dared to try again after a botched first attempt that got frogged and rebirthed as pot holders.
