In other words, alt text and the alt attribute predate the slog of A.I. technology. Alt text predates every single social media platform. Alt text has been a standard and best practice for quite a while. Insinuating alt text is just a tool for A.I. scraping is ignorant of history and accessibility.
Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images.
The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.

Good thread! I only recently learned that tools to open jars exist, and I happen to eat Lao Gan Ma pretty frequently when I have it, and I’ve been struggling to open jars because my joints are fucky. Just in case that’s useful to anybody

reading guides can also help people with ADHD and dyslexia. there are multiple kinds, like solid or sheer color blocks with cut outs, or glass tubes with color in the center that highlights a single sentence/portion of a paragraph

focusing on characters because i want my own escapism too you know but, i really didn't know how many aids there are for being VI. i lost as much vision as i needed to read shortly after i started a book offline and i recently learned about typoscopes, which may enable me to read again
