And now we are cut off. The province just closed all highways between the mainland (Vancouver) and the interior. It’s an “abundance of caution” kind of closure it sounds like.
We are ok for now. Got a few days of rations if we need it. Have not had to send the cats off for supplies.

Coquihalla now closed due to flooding. Which in December sure is something. That /should/ be snow at this point.
I mean the Coq closes if you look at it funny but still noteworthy.

This technology cannot be made safe, it cannot be made useful at scale, it cannot be made ethical and it cannot be made benign. The only real choice is to avoid it and reject it to the extent that remains possible to us, and treat it all as a warning to value, and sharpen, our own human minds.

Fairly common when I was growing up, up north. But I dont see them all that often anymore. Still from time to time Costco and a few other places have them. They aren’t perfect but if outside a fair bit they really make a difference

(Ok it’s not that cold compared to the rest of Canada but I did my time in the godforsaken howling northern wilderness. I moved to southwest BC for a few reasons)
