think ive got a final conclusion why skia's so much "faster" on chrome's skia software rasterizer. my theory is that it scales according to whatever's the native window. so even if i beg it to render 4k, it's not going to. it's gonna render what "looks" like 4k according to my display i think

phew finally managed to get chrome's skia cpu render to be slow asf even w chrome's 50 render layers. i suspect it's international word-breaking on demaind on the letter / grapheme rather than blobs. ive been trying to make chrome skia like my shitty one all this time and finally did it :D

it’s been like months of me using Apple Music at this point and I feel slightly insecure that I’m officially the bleeding edge for electronic music. Spotify used to recommend me some esoteric stuff, which is actually fine. The music I listen to nowadays is far more danceable than the modern stuff

U can’t believe chrome performs the way it does. For every person dogging on electron, yall gotta give credit how incredible browsers are fundamentally. I know no one bats an eye about it, but after trying to tackle text rendering and layout, I think it’s a miracle how well they perform!

there's like a long-running programming joke about how painful unicode is. yeah. im running into that even now with skia. there's so many many many layers to it.

i no-lifed playing wandering sword. it was like playing a really good wuxia movie in game form. the updates to it kinda doubled or tripled game content and i underestimated how much deeper all the characters are. never experienced a game that was so comprehensive.

I think I figured out the European bounce groove “schranz” style dancing. It’s all in the hips and it’s kinda crazy to me. It’s like a whole different personality. All these dance moves are so cardio heavy and exhausting 😭. They make it look so easy

after listening to the beatmania iidx 12 album virtual self makes so much sense. it's actually got that weird genre mix im into! amazing stuff. there's like a dream trance subgenre that's super mechanical that japanese people love and i FOUND IT in beat mana ALL OVER

I’m terrified of Unicode and text breaking omg. I finally used skparagraph. I was eventually gonna make my own version of it, but looking at how huge it is… I realized there’s way more to this 😭. The libraries make it sound so easy 😭😭

so i know i said f bazel but i actually got it working for grimoire. so far, it's checked out as long as i avoid anything w the word "hermetic" in it LOL. why bazel tho? why not cmake + vcpkg? tbh, if skia wasn't already in bazel, i wouldve said f it lol, but it's already in bazel and checks out.

There’s totallly like an obsession with shuffling don’t get me wrong it’s like a cross genre superpower dance thing but it’s hella intense lol. The videos make it look casual, but for actual clubbing it’s like reserved and special imo. It’s fun to see people “unleash” it for a minute

ran into ub for the first time in awhile, but this time w graphics stuff. it's terrifying bc it's very hard to know what kinda issue it could stem from. i knew it was somethin reallly stupid too. i get why people are so into rust more now. gosh that's scary.

i hoep im placing a decent bet into apple w their graphics / software stack. it's _extremely_ niche and the onl yreason why im sold on it is bc my laptop is so portable. apple silicon series is unbeatable, and running a touchdesigner stack on it is no joke lol
