It's a good thing the piano man went around calling himself Billy Joel. Bill Joel doesn't sound quite right.

I bought my officemate a new bed thinking she'd like it. She didn't ask for it, just trying to be nice. Of course I caught her sleeping on the floor next to it. Wtf.

We had a conversation about it and she seems willing to give it a try.

Breaking my unintended social media hiatus to remind everyone that the off-Broadway hits Nunsense 1 and 2 soundtracks kinda rock.

Friends... we won. TN HB315 was rejected by committee.

While strong and healthy relationships- to include marriage- is something that should be celebrated, we can't give abusers additional tools to perpetuate the cycle.

Our work is far from done, but together we can make a difference.
March 5, 2025 at 6:10 PM
This is important and about to happen in more states.

These laws will keep survivors of abuse in their dangerous relationships, remove their options to protect themselves, and lead to more deaths and injury.

We need to ensure laws protect the most vulnerable.
🚨🚨 URGENT. Action Needed 🚨🚨

A critical bill is being voted on Tuesday by the Tennessee Children & Family Affairs Subcommittee, and we need YOUR voice to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children and families!

Do I have friends that are interested in self-care and emotional resiliency that wouldn't mind proof reading a guide for me? DM's open if so <3

I'm angry and I'm frustrated and I'm sad.

But I'm not done.

I'm getting a lot of freaked out late-night texts from my friends who are not experienced organizers, looking for advice on how to deal with the constant onslaught of bad news and how to make themselves useful. This is the advice I give.
Y'all pick a lane. Then make a little progress in your lane each day.

Every serious, experienced organizer I know is Doing Their Thing. Instead of freaking out about each bit of bad news, we're in our lanes rapidly building dual power infrastructure and networks that don't rely on the goverment.

I remember when people were half-joking that trump was going to try to build condos in gaza; my favorite joke was that he misread "condos" as "condoms" and that's rage-tweeted about it.

But then... I mean... wtf.

CHILDHOOD DREAM ACHIEVED.

This game (Sunset Riders) ate entire allowances of quarters in my childhood. Took advantage of the free play arcade at Magfest and FINALLY beat the game with my son (right). It felt even better than I dreamed lol

This was his first year, he's hooked.

For the past three years, I've been volunteering on the public safety team at #Magfest. I'm exhausted, my feet hurt, and I can't wait for next year.

My preferred role is a "roamer." We're the people with blue vests and bags full of bandaids and aspirin, who make sure you get to your room safe.

I remember slinging those heavy cardboard boxes for the soda machines at the gas station I worked at. I guess things are more efficient now

I'm in the lineup too, but I didn't make the cut. Oh well, maybe next time! :)
Some great speakers lined up for ProtectCon 2025! Still time to get free tickets over at protectcon.org (and see the rest of the lineup!)

I'm personally really excited about this. I value Alyssa as a friend, "fellow security professional" (quotes because technically true, but she's at a different level for sure), and genuinely good person. The ProtectCon audience needs to hear what she has to say, and I'm grateful for her time.
We're excited to announce Alyssa Miller as the ProtectCon 2025 keynote speaker. Her experiences and insights will make a major difference to the domestic violence advocates and allies in the audience. Learn more at protectcon.org

Feels like every time I see professional-ish pictures and headshots of the lot of you, ya'll look so good. WHY ARE YOU SO PHOTOGENIC?? I'm happy for you, but jealous.

We just heard about this thing called "clickbait" and apparently it's all the rage. So we figured we'd give it a shot.

Anyway, just a reminder that there's only a few hours left to make a tax-deductible donation to Operation Safe Escape in 2024! Donate here (please): safeescape.org/help/donate
