Surely it's much closer to the latter. It's hard to believe that a) the incoming sponsors would be able to put up enough money to replace what Adam's had been providing or b) that Adams would want to leave his baby behind. The Israel point notwithstanding, he's still the founder and a cycling nut.

Lol. Reminds me of Will Ferrell's line in Blades of Glory when his character completes a skating routine and thanks the cheering Denver crowd by declaring "Denver. City By The Bay, John Denver."

After a century of decadence, and with conditions still being fine for many people, there is insufficient collective resolve to sustained this sort of action. I saw it first-hand at the Wisconsin protests in 2011. I don't blame anyone; it's simply a structural function of our moment in history.

Thanks for the link and the direction towards the last section. Was not aware of this one (hard to keep up lol). Looking forward to reading it soon.

Retreats always sound so fun. As though they'll be held at waterside cottages or country estates and be full of spontaneous convos with interesting people. The reality is usually pretty much the opposite of idyllic, however lol.

Option B sounds like it would be something to behold but I can't see how it would work in practice. With that many people, the options are a) sheet cake b) a number of smaller cakes (e. g. four smaller round cakes), IMO. In this case, A sounds great.

Thank you, Carl. The timing of this piece couldn't be better as I am working on something that has required me to revisit the poptimism/rockism wars.

Love it. Been on real Hold Steady kick lately and this took me for a ride on the ROFLcopter.
