It's Bandai / Sunrise, so they won't stop unless the numbers dont add up.

I do want to say the new one looks like possibly a full AU or otherwise so far removed in time and space that it shouldn't really affect anything, so I am open to it.

They played with that angle in the now closed mobile game. Not the current one, that is still active, but the previous game.

Spoilers for a dead game that was not translated.

It was actually a pretty good game. I still try to play the Japanese version, but it's a shame to have lost the global server.

From a very bird's eye view of the situation and acknowledging that we currently don't know anything else, I think the biggest sticking point here will be whether this is going to be a short project or a longer one. If it's short, that might be more vulnerable to rushing and various editing issues.

I haven't seen Babylon myself but I've heard about its reputation. That said, this particular fellow only wrote the original novels and those are supposedly not finished, so that's a factor. Anime adaptations of unfinished works tend to make risky choices, not always wisely.

If they set it in another world where he was never alive, then they can sidestep the whole issue. I'm hoping that's the case.

I am also a Goro Taniguchi fan so I can see your point, but it's not too surprising because many of those are a lot less commercially appealing. Some are outright niche in comparison.

Incidentally, I'm very interested in his upcoming Paris movie.

Calling them 13 movies is more like some creative accounting, since it's counting each one that's part of a larger multi-part work as a separate thing, whereas it's just the same story.

I'm slightly scared but intrigued at the same time...since some people would say that about Code Geass itself, which is funny to think about.

More seriously, it also depends on the director and their collaboration. Writers don't have total power over the stories of anime projects.

Whatever the Agarmatha is supposed to be, it looks more beast-like rather than a traditional Knightmare Frame.

Looking back, "Rebellion", "Exiled" and "Recapture" were all words that fit a certain mold, whereas "Aspar the Star Chaser" sounds indicative of a more open-ended direction.

The numbering is a little creative here, because they're counting anything that was ever released in theaters as a movie. For instance, that includes considering all 5 chapters of Akito the exiled as separate films.

If it turns out to be better or at least very different, which seems like a safe bet, then you may not need to watch any of those anyway, if you ever care to try another one.

If it largely came and went, then the economics may not work in its favor from a business perspective. Conversely, some of these CG projects must be profitable enough for them.

I hope they try again with T&B, but that is just me. I'll watch almost everything either way.
