I hate not being able to actually watch the #Arsenal games. I just refresh the score 100x and watch my blue sky feed.

I have to say I'm deeply sad about Per Mertesacker leaving Arsenal. I do wish him all the best, though. #Arsenal #Gooner

I continue to use and enjoy travel books like Lonely Planet and Rick Steves. Especially since search has gotten so shitty. #BookSky #Travel

What I am doing: work while drinking good tea. (And clearly taking a social media break.)
What I want to do: sleep in, drink good tea, crochet, trip plan, go for a long birding walk, do some yin yoga, and maybe spin.

This isn't just a casual observation. Fascism scholars have long made this point. It's why calling them "weird" was a more effective strategy than talking about the prices of eggs. Fascism is an aesthetic political movement - you need to make people feel embarassed and horrified by it.
one of the most effective weapons we have against fascism is mockery, especially when its really funny
It occurs to me all the yelling at ICE in MPLS isn't merely funny. Getting made fun of like this is awful for morale. ICE is losing field officers faster than it can wave them through training, and a big part of it is how little of this these little weasels can take.

I recently re-read a diary I kept in 2016. I wrote when Donald Trump won how shocked and disgusted I was - and referenced his similarities to Hitler. 10 years later and I was closer to the truth than I ever could have feared.

Welbeck scoring (and celebrating) at Old Trafford will never get old. Some finish on his left foot there.

It's that special time of year again when I feel compelled to say that The Bear, while a great show, is not a comedy. #GoldenGlobes

Watched Dead Poet's Society for the first time. It was fine. Robin Williams was brilliant. But the movie wasn't for me.

I appreciate all the people reminding folks to take refuge in small joys. I know it can sound self-serving or quietist to champion hobbies & self-compassion in the middle of political upheaval, but your boldest, most powerful self is rested, centred & happy. Also, you deserve joy.

Yeah. I've cried every day this year.
Anyone else struggling to care about anything anymore; like I’m either insanely angry at the world or just, feel numb and like my dreams and goals don’t matter.

Like, why do my hopes and pains even matter and compare to the collapse of society

If you've got an audience, especially a podcast or some sort of show, and you are not encouraging your audience to do something tangibly good for the community at large I am not entirely sure of what the point of cultivating an audience is beyond money.

Finished Neon Gods by @kateerobert.com and it was great! Very sexy which is not my usual genre and I was pleasantly surprised with the storyline. It wasn't plotless sex at all. And I enjoyed the modern take on Olympus and the gods. I recommend if you like smut with plot & Greek mythology #BookSky

First book of the year completed: Perilous Trade: Book Publishing in Canada 1946-2006! Recommended to me by a friend in the industry. Fascinating history and a surprisingly engaging read.
